I finally found the courage after 7 years of hardship in a marriage based on control. I truly felt I needed his “permission” to leave. It wasn’t pretty, my kids suffered, I lost financially, I lost a pet, I lost 1/2 of my flea market collection of “stuff” but I learned one lesson, it’s all just STUFF and the price for freedom hold value greater than any THING I’ve ever owned. My kids and I all love each other and now 8 years later, I’ve never ONCE second guessed my decision. My life opened up when I stopped holding myself back under the control of a partner who never wanted me to become more successful or stronger because that would mean I held myself own power ….lets just say, with many many hours of solitude and healing I now know that it’s not power I needed. It was the opposite. It was balance, the connection of feminine and masculine, the authority to choose my own direction each day. You DONT WANT TO MISS THIS! And seriously you can do it. I thought I had nothing, believed I couldn’t “survive alone” because that was the narrative of a narcissist… dig deep, forgive yourself ahead of time and DO IT. Pick you! There’s a whole other world on the other side!
