☀️ Summer schedule update ☀️

With kids, sports, and all the summer chaos, my schedule will look a little different over the next few months! To help keep things simple, I’ll be posting my work calendar at the beginning of each month so everyone knows which days I’ll be in the shop.

As many of you know, our salon owner, Chasity, is currently in the hospital recovering from a recent transplant as part of her leukemia treatment. She’ll be there for a while, so we’re putting together an ongoing collection of cards, notes, and words of encouragement.

You can bring in a card anytime or write a message here at the salon (blank cards available) —we’ll be delivering them to her regularly to remind her how many people are thinking of her and cheering her on.

Thank you for being part of her support system.

📢 Important announcement 📢

I am out of the shop starting today (Friday April 17) and I will be returning Tuesday (April 21st)
I am off to Chicago for the hair show. Ill be coming back with new products, education, and I'm sure plenty of fun stories.

❗️Long Post❗️(but worth the read)

I had a conversation with a mom the other day while I was cutting her son's hair. We were doing a big change, so I had asked to take before and after pictures. During the conversation, I mentioned I've been having a hard time bringing myself to actually post them. I have been following a lot of amazing barbers on social media for a long time. I always thought, "how could a small town Iowa, female barber compare to all of these 'viral' barbers?" I always talk myself out of posting because the photos I take are never perfect. But I came to the realization during this conversation... A lot of the photos I see have been edited, AI, or have filters. Of course those always look perfect. Hair is never perfect. Hair is not AI. Hair is real. Hair moves. I always tell my boys, "your hair will not ever look like those AI images unless you use AI. Your hair is real." With all the technology now, I feel like an unrealistic standard has been set in many different fields, barbering being one. I am by no means saying the technology cannot be helpful, I am guilty of using ChatGTP to help me plenty. But I am now making the conscious choice to be a barber that posts their work without the help of AI or filters. I teach my guys how to really style their hair because I want them to be able to recreate and enjoy the cuts they receive every day, not just when they leave.
I know I am far from a perfect barber, but I make the choice to do it every day anyway. Why? Because I love what I do! So this is going to be a post with my undoctored and unfiltered photos of some haircuts I have done recently. If you've made it this far, I just want to let each and every one of you know that I really appreciate the continued support. I went out on a limb and took a chance opening my own shop in an unfamiliar place, and it has really paid off. I have the absolute best clientele. So for that, I thank you all!

🌺Spring Break🌺

I will be taking a few days off this week for Spring Break. These are the hours I will be in. If you are looking to get an appointment while the kids are out of school, please get ahold of me or book online!
I hope everyone has a relaxing spring break, hopefully we get some nice weather to enjoy!
