📢 🚨 FRIENDS - you ✨definitely✨ have dead skin on your body (whether you can see it or not). If you don’t properly exfoliate before your spray tan, your skin’s natural shedding situation will significantly impact your spray tan results.

And….I can tell almost as soon as I start spraying. Here are the areas that people neglect when prepping for their spray tans:

1. Underarms & surrounding area - there’s a lot of friction happening here. Make sure you exfoliate allllll over and around

2. Neck & chest - so important, especially if you are using skincare in these areas

3. Inside the elbows - this is another area of high friction (hello cell phones). Make sure we are starting with a clean slate

I know I know I know…you tried SO hard to make this the perfect spray tan situation, only to have your bubble burst when you walk through the door. But, let me explain (because I just want you to have the best tan ever):

- 🚿Showering right before your tan is a no-no. Preferably, I’d like you to shower the day before. If you can’t, make sure you shower at least 4 hours before your tan. Why? Showering right before your tan opens all the pores on your body and puts you at risk for that “strawberry skin” look. Showering also alters the ph of your skin and could affect the skin’s ability to absorb the solution.
- 👗Maxi DRESSES (and tank tops, and shorts) allow for skin-to-skin contact under your arms and inside of your thighs for the drive home. Short shorts also allow the back of your freshly tanned legs to rub on your leather carseats while driving. ❓Ever have a dark patch under your arms when you get home from your tan? Skin-to-skin contact is the culprit. The way to avoid all this is to wear loose clothing with a sleeve and loose pants.
- 🧼NOT A FAN of Tree Hut Scrubs to exfoliate before your tan! This very thing happened to my daughter when I sprayed her for prom. AS SOON as I started spraying, I noticed the solution beading on her skin. Tree Hut scrubs contain oils that create a barrier on the skin. Even if you think you’ve rinsed it off, believe me, it’s still there. Not ideal for a smooth, even tan application.
