Ask a CLC presents: 20 Ways to Support the Breastfeeding Parent in Your Life 🍼
Day 13: Run an errand. 🛍️
Sometimes, the best support is taking one more task off someone’s plate. Postpartum support can include practical help with groceries, diapers, pumping supplies, snacks, medications, or other everyday needs.
Support Tip: Ask, “What can I pick up for you?” You could grab a few groceries, bring a bottle of water, pick up a prescription, or take care of an errand they haven’t had time to manage.
Everyday help can ease the workload and give the breastfeeding parent more time to rest and care for themselves and their baby. 💛

Day 12: Household Chores
Breastfeeding takes time, energy, and care. Parents shouldn’t have to manage every household chore on top of caring for their baby.
One way to help? Take a few tasks off their plate!
🏡 Help with laundry
🍲 Prepare a meal
🍽️ Unload the dishwasher
These everyday acts of support can give a breastfeeding parent more time to rest, recover, and focus on their baby.
Sometimes, the best support is simply showing up and helping out.

Ask a CLC presents: 20 Ways to Support the Breastfeeding Parent in Your Life 🍼
Day 11: Wash the pump and bottle parts. 🧼
After pumping is over, someone still has to wash all those parts! Cleaning can be one more time-consuming task added to an already busy day.
Support Tip: Take over the washing. Health professionals recommend cleaning pump parts that come into contact with breast milk after every use, so this is a task that comes up often.
Grab the dish soap and give the breastfeeding parent one less thing to worry about.

Ask a CLC presents: 20 Ways to Support the Breastfeeding Parent in Your Life 🍼💛
Day 10: Help label and store expressed milk. 🏷️🍼
The work of expressing milk doesn’t end when the pump is turned off. Labeling, storing, organizing, and preparing expressed milk are all tasks that partners and family members can help with.
Support Tip: Ask the breastfeeding parent to walk you through their process, then take notes so you can take on these tasks yourself.
Sharing the behind-the-scenes work can be a meaningful way to support the breastfeeding parent.
