POLL: CAN TOM HARDY BE THE NEXT JAMES BOND?

Rumors are swirling that shop fav actor Tom Hardy (Bane from Dark Knight Returns, Max in Mad Max Fury Road) has been cast to follow Daniel Craig as the new James Bond. Hardy has definitely played a number of gritty, darker roles (we see you Taboo and Peaky Blinkers)...but he also loves dogs and once played a character called Handsome Bob. Do you think he can pull off being the new 007? Sound off in the comments.

NEW IN TOWN:

LEE RD. EDITION

So maybe you moved here as a student? Maybe you moved back to Cleveland because the world decided to start becoming a weird, apocalypse movie. Maybe you started a new job and were not allowed to leave the house since March because...well, you get it. So here is our second edition of NEW IN TOWN, a city guide to things we at Eddy's Barbershop enjoy all over Cleveland. We already tackled Coventry, but let us move to Lee Road.

Need to grab a pint and have above-average foodstuffs? The Kensington on Lee Rd. is the spot for you. The Kensington features indoor and outdoor seating, multiple TV’s to watch whatever sports are still going on during this nightmare, and spots to shoot darts. The kitchen also stays open until 2:30 AM! It is a personal favorite of the Eddy’s on Coventry team. Home to a top-five plate of fries in town, the menu is stacked. We recommend any the My Boy Bleu Burger, Burger au Poivre, and any of their Mac & Cheese dishes are out of this world.

*Note: Due to the new Covid-19 rules introduced by Mayor DeWine, restaurants must close by 10 PM and alcohol must be finished by 11 PM…so the 2 AM thing is on hold, but still a must.

Looking for a good, healthy sandwich, salad, or soup? Stone Oven Bakery and Café had been a Cleveland mainstay for years. With vegetarian and meat options available, there is something for everyone here. You also get a choice of sides between chips, couscous, or tabouli! Soups change daily, and they also have desserts available.

https://stone-oven.com/

Pizza…oh pizza. How we love thee. One of the best pizza joints in town, Dewey’s Pizza, is currently open for takeout. Oh, we will get to the Little Italy edition of places to visit, but Dewey’s is that good. Offering build-your-own, specialty, and seasonal pies, this place is the jam. Gluten-free options are available, and even their salads are fabulous. Go to Dewey’s, you will and your tummy will not be disappointed.

Want a little international flavor in your life? MOJO has revamped its menu and prides themselves on world eats. From American to Asian, Mediterranean to European, there is a taste of everything available Mojo features a variety of drinks, they also sport one of the cutest patios in town.

https://www.mojocle.com/

Want a little nice joint that has great eats and brews their own beer? Boss Dog is the place for you. Along with a killer menu and fantastic patio, the staff is top-notch. They offer other drinks other than house brews, but why would you want to pass those delicious drinks up? Gluten and vegan options are available as well.

https://bossdogbrewing.com/

In the mood for more cultural eats? Anatolia Café offers up a fantastic offering of Turkish inspired food. Fantastic kebabs and a variety of apps that are shareable for multiple people, there is always something new to try. A multiple-year award winner of the best Turkish eatery in town, Anatolia is a great place to swing by alone or with friends from out of town.

A little down the road is The Bottlehouse. A great spot to grab a drink and now tacos by Louie Q, the Bottlehouse also features a variety of board games and specialty game nights. They also make their own mead! A great place to hang out and chat, meet people and socialize in a low-key environment.

Oh, when to go to the movies was a thing. Lee Rd. hosts our favorite theater in town, Cedar Lee Cinemas. Mostly focusing on smaller independent films, this was an Eddy’s favorite pre-apocalypse. So many great movies. You could even get a coffee, beer, mixed-drink, or wine while watching your flick! It’s awesome. Currently, they are closed due to the aforementioned alternate dimension horribleness, but you can still stream movies online and do curbside pickup for great movie popcorn and snacks! CEDAR LEE WE MISS YOU AND HOPE YOU CAN REOPEN SOON!

NEW IN TOWN:

COVENTRY EDITION

So maybe you moved here as a student? Maybe you moved back to Cleveland because the world decided to start becoming a weird, apocalypse movie. Maybe you started a new job and weren't allowed to leave the house since March because...well, you get it. So here is our first edition of NEW IN TOWN, a city guide to things we at Eddy's Barbershop enjoy all over Cleveland. First up, we will talk about where we are located, Cleveland Heights: Coventry Edition!

Let's start on Coventry. Not only is it home to (one of) our barbershops, but it also features Eddy's on Coventry, a men's and women's salon that does haircuts, coloring, and (when things get safe again) even more! Eddy works here! He's super nice! Pop in and say hello! Make an appointment at 216-378-9811.

Hungry? Coventry has quite a few options. Tommy's is a street staple that serves up vegetarian and vegan food as well as meat dishes. Like milkshakes? They have the best in town. They are also offering outdoor seating this summer, so grab a bite and get some socially-distanced sun.

https://tommyscoventry.com/

Sushi fan? We have two options on the street. First up is my personal favorite, Pacific East. I vouch for them as having the best sushi in town, but I also don't leave my bubble much. Also offering up an excellent selection of sushi and more is Tree Country, who our almost right next door. We've never had a bad meal there, so we recommend checking them out as well. If you are looking for straight-up Chinese food, Hunan's is another Coventry staple that won't let you down.

Want a sub sammie? Grum's is another Coventry staple that offers you HUGE sandwiches for a fantastic price. There is also Dave's Cosmic Subs on the street if you're in the mood for some Crazy Sauce and gluten-free bread options available.

https://www.davescosmicsubs.com/locations/cleveland-heights-ohio/

Hankerin' for some fast Mexican food? Shrug off that Chipotle junk and get an upgrade to Clinatro Taqueria, which hits all the same notes as Chipotle and more. With fresh ingredients and amazing staff, it's a nice spot to grab a little something to fulfill your taco or burrito fix.

https://www.cilantrotaqueria.com/

Coffee? Texas tea! Black Gold! If you need to recharge, we have Phoenix Coffee right next door to help you recharge. Along with organic various coffee options, they also have a small section of snacks and KOMBUCHA!

https://phoenixcoffee.com/

Fan of books? Mac's Back's Books, located right next to Tommy's, had three floors of new, used, and rare reads. Locally owned and operating on Coventry since 1982, they have what you're looking for and more (rad socks!).

https://www.macsbacks.com/history

Into Antiques and Vintage things? Attenson's has something for everyone and price quite fair. From vintage jewelry to lamps, radios to typewriters, Attenson's is probably a good stop on the street for you.

http://www.attensonsantiques.com/

Up for some history, beauty, or a nice place to jog? Weird date day? Lakeview Cemetary is right down the street, with miles of local and national history to soak in. Lakeview features President Garfield's mausoleum, the resting place of Eliot Ness, and John Rockafeller. It also has the graves of local heroes the likes of Harvey Pekar, Indian's great Ray Chapman, and more. Flower festivals and nature trails make this a must-visit destination, and oh, some of Captain America: Winter Soldier was filmed here as well.

https://lakeviewcemetery.com/

You one of those crazy kids that likes vinyl records and some of those crazy video games? Coventry offers two shops, Record Revolution and the The Exchange. Record Revolution has a variety of other goods (such as jewelry and ummm..."smoking materials") while The Exchange has locations all over the city, carries records, CDs, video games, and more!

https://www.facebook.com/RecordRevolution/

https://www.theexchange.com/

SO WHEN THEY OPEN! One of our bestest friends and bestest venues to see live music ANYWHERE in town is The Grog Shop. Seriously. Amazing bands and amazing people. We love this place. You will too. They are still shut down, so if you want to donate money, click on the second link, they (we) appreciate it.

So over the past month or so, we've noticed an influx of new students (shout out to Case Western Medical school) moving in and getting haircuts.

First of all, thank you for coming to us (tell your friends).

Second, we've enjoyed chatting with you about moving to a new area in such weird times. We love a nice chat.

Thirdsly, we always are here to recommend things for you to do if you are new to the city, be it restaurants we enjoy, stores we really like, areas to check out, blah blah blah...so we will be launching a new a segment focusing on some of the other favorite places for our new to Cleveland customers highlighting some of these spots.
