MEET THE MAKER 🧵

Hi, I’m Savannah - Sav to most, Salve to some, SivSav if you knew me in high school. And if you’ve ever joined a Facebook BST group for a name your baby doesn’t even have yet because you needed to know what monograms to order - same. Griffin was due in May. I was deep in a Griffin embroidery group in January (hi, Grace, thanks for starting my stash). My husband Justin thought we had plenty of time. I told him we needed to stop calling the baby something different every week and make a decision - because the outfits weren’t going to order themselves.

The fixation makes sense when you know my backstory. I was almost named Abigail Sarah Savage until my grandfather took one look at that monogram and asked how it was going to look on a kindergarten backpack. He saved me. I’ve been thinking about monograms ever since.

Happy Hoop Company started in the most unglamorous way possible: exclusively pumping for a year (the actual worst, 10/10 do not recommend) and desperately needing something to do with my hands besides doom scroll. I picked up hand embroidery, then graduated to a real machine - and somewhere along the way pumping went from eternal damnation to something I actually looked forward to. My little smoke break. My thing.

I grew up with a mom who could make anything - Halloween costumes, dorm drapes, hand beading the buttons on my wedding gown. It was always a little extra and always made with love. She taught me that the details make the moment (and the picture).

Now I’ve got Griffin and his cousin Caroline in matching bubbles, and my sister and I are determined to milk this stage for everything it’s worth - matching outfits, personalized bottle bags, anything to preserve the magic of early childhood for as long as we possibly can.

That’s what Happy Hoop Company is about. Making the magic happen, one stitch at a time. 🩵
