Nearly a year had gone by (maybe a full year? 🤔) and one of my favorites is back from deployment to freshen up her curls 💗 the timing in when she was brought home couldn’t have been better and I’m so happy she is safe. I find myself thinking about you all between appointments. Wondering how you’re doing with whatever we talked about at your last appointment, or what adventures you’ve been on (mentally, physically, or emotionally. This career is unlike any other - so many people from all walks of life (and corners of the globe!🌎) sit in my chair. We have incredible conversations and I get to create art; I sculpt and color your hair- unleashing my creativity in to something you wear day in and day out. Thank you for being my canvas and also for all of the incredible conversations (and also thank you for enduring my stand up comedy routines, TED talks, and super deep dives), these relationships are what make life incredible special 💗

Lisa brought in some shamrock ☘️ shades to celebrate St Patrick’s Day today. Hope you all stayed safe and warm out there!

Let’s brighten this cold day (🙃 very on brand for Iowa) a little bit with some more highlights and a fresh cut! I had the pleasure of seeing this lovely lady again - it had been about a year (before photo at the end) so it was time to refresh her sparkle ✨ I’m convinced that if I post highlight photos that the sun and warmth will come faster! High of 21 today but a high of 77 on Friday… where else can you find such extremes!

SHE WAS HERE TODAY! 🌷Spring is here! Many people use Groundhog Day as their indicator for Spring. Courtney is MY indicator that Spring is here. When she comes in for her first highlight of the year (out of two for the year) I know it’s time to say goodbye to winter! It also makes me proud that she can come in twice a year and have such a soft grow out. Low maintenance highlights at their best. 🩷 She’s a favorite!

One of my favorite things about highlights like this? They grow out softly (swipe ➡️ for the ‘before’).
No harsh lines. No “oh no, I’m overdue” panic. Just easy, lived-in, feel-good hair.

Yes, I have some clients I see every 4 weeks (love you, my higher-maintenance friends 😘)…
but a *lot* of my highlight clients come in 2–4 times a year; because that’s what works for their life.

And it’s not just color… ✂️✨
My haircuts are designed the same way — with intention, structure, and real understanding of shape + balance.
Think: good “architecture,” so your cut grows out softly and still holds its form.

From day one, we talk about:
✨ How often you want to come in
✨ How much upkeep fits your schedule
✨ What fits your lifestyle (not just Pinterest)
✨ What makes you feel confident between visits

My goal?
For you to never feel like you have to urgently book because your hair looks harsh, drab, or “off.”
I want it growing out pretty, effortless, and still you. 🌿

Low maintenance ≠ boring.
It means intentional. It means customized. It means freedom. 💫

Think about hair that fits your life (not runs it). 🩷

Today is my day off. It felt like it was time to start painting again. Because texture is such a big part of my life, it felt like time to bring dimension to something besides hair… so I’m experimenting with bringing dimension to canvas - with the help of my lovely assistant in all things, Evelyn 🥰

Would you believe in this after and before photo that there were no color services done? (And *no* photo editing!). I took (from the longest point) around 3.5 inches off and added more volume and shape - which was so much fun! I used a chelating shampoo (Olaplex 4C) to help give a fresh canvas, removing product and mineral build up, and then had some extra nourishment with Kevin Murphy Hydrate Me Masque. Shoutout to this lovely ladies sister who found me and gifted a curly haircut to her 🩷 I love meeting new people!

I just really love sculpting shape in to hair. It’s so gratifying 🤩 and meeting new people and hearing their stories? Also my favorite. It is why this career is meant for me 💗 Thank you for being my living art work 🖼️

New shape in preparation for a new year ✨ This guest always brightens my day when she comes in (her name is very ‘bright’ too, but that’s not why). She always makes a point to stop in between her travels - I love hearing about where she’s been and what amazing things they’ve done. Most recently was Portugal 🇵🇹 and up next, in just a few weeks, is Panama 🇵🇦! Today she wanted a s**g inspired haircut- curly bangs and all! Not so secret fact about me- I’m obsessed with curly bangs (and BIG curly hair). I’m never one to say no to any kind of transformation 🪄! As you can see in the before/after images, we really increased the layers and face framing, added bangs, but kept the base length. This will be perfect for her being in the salt water so much in the coming months (paired with how I told her to care for her curls swimming so much). I’m already looking forward to hearing all about the trip and seeing how well the cut grows out!
