Sleeping in rollers was a commitment.
You spent half the night trying to find the one position where seventeen pieces of hard plastic weren't digging directly into your skull.
There wasn't one.
So you tossed.
You turned.
You woke up with a neck that felt like you'd been rear-ended.
Then you stumbled into the bathroom, pulled those rollers out and started working on the hair you'd just sacrificed an entire night's sleep to create.
And if it looked good?
Suddenly none of the suffering mattered.
Beauty in the ’80s wasn't painless.
It was practically an endurance sport.
