Sunscreen vs. sunblock ☀️
Most people use the words the same way, but they work very differently.
Sunscreen absorbs UV rays before they reach your skin. It goes on clear, feels light, and works well for larger areas like your arms, legs, and back.
Sunblock sits on top of your skin and reflects UV rays away. It is thicker and works best on sensitive spots like your nose, lips, and shoulders.
One thing worth knowing: neither one belongs inside a tanning bed or spray tan booth. They both interfere with your session, so always skip them before you come in.
Our pro advice: sunscreen contains chemicals that are absorbed into your body by your skin - so only apply when you’re going to be in the sun longer than your skin can tolerate, and know that the best SPF is a natural one - your base tan!

How Does the Tanning Process Work?
Tanning takes place in the skin's outermost layer, the epidermis, with special cells called melanocytes. When exposed to UVB light (short wave ultraviolet), melanocytes produce the pigment, melanin. The pinkish melanin travels up through the epidermis and is absorbed by other skin cells. When exposed to UVA light (longer wave), melanin oxidizes or darkens. This is your skin's way of protecting itself against too much UV light. The tanning process is optimized through the use of professional indoor tanning products. Ask your tanning consultant today how you can get the most from your sessions!
