After removal of skin cancer (commonly with Mohs surgery), the wound may require reconstruction. The type of reconstruction depends on the size, depth, and location of the wound. Mohs surgeons, plastic surgeons, and facial plastic surgeons can perform your reconstruction.
This JAMA Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery Patient Page describes what to expect with skin cancer reconstruction.

I had a special visitor at work today! 🥰 She may be too young for Botox and filler, but it’s never too early to teach her the importance of skincare and sun protection 😎🤪😁

Skin cancer can occur anywhere on the body (yes, ANYWHERE). It is important to have routine full body skin checks with a dermatologist at least once a year. Common signs and symptoms where a biopsy may be indicated:
- Nonhealing lesion or ulceration
- A spot that "comes and goes." It seems to heal temporarily after being scratched, scrubbed, or treated topically, but keeps reappearing
- Red, raised, rough, or scaly
- Larger than a pencil eraser
- Asymmetrical shape or irregular borders
- Multiple colors in one lesion or mole
- Changes in shape, color, or size over time
*thankfully this biopsy came back benign, but better to biopsy and be benign, than not biopsy and miss a skin cancer!
