Indigo Wellness Spa, LLC

I will be stepping way out of my comfort zone next week and competing in the American massage championships. Everyone keeps asking me why, so I thought I would share a bit about why I am choosing to do this.

1. Opportunity to grow in my own practice and get expert feedback.

Therapists from around the world will be there showcasing their art. There is no greater opportunity to learn from the best in the business.

2. I'm not getting any younger.

This has always been on my bucket list and I want to participate while I can handle an intense few days of giving and receiving massage. Yes, I will absolutely be receiving massages from the other competitors. That alone is reason enough for me to sign up. My current limit is 4 massages/day and 17 years of doing 6-7 massages/day has started to catch up to me.

3. Did I mention I would be receiving massages for 3 days in a row! 😁

Scoring is done based on a points system and it is broken down into categories. At the end of the first day, those with the most points in each category will go on to compete in the finals.
We are judged on a variety of things including body mechanics, techniques, flow, innovativeness, etc.

I did have trouble deciding which categories to participate in but we are limited to 2. I chose to participate in the wellness massage and freestyle categories.

Everyone also keeps asking if I think I will win...

No. I don't. And that's okay! This will be my first time competing and many of the therapists that will be there have been massaging 20+ years and have been to many of these competitions. I'm just grateful to be in the same room.

I think this will be a super fun experience and I can't wait to bring what I learn back to my clients!
