Thinking about and missing my mom today on her birthday. These pictures were taken back in August of 2014 when she came to stay with my family in Colorado for a while.
I took her to my favorite hair stylist, Johnny, at Accent Salons. Johnny also plays in a band and he always makes his customers feel special. My mom absolutely loved her time with him.
First she had her nails done and you can tell in the picture that she was telling some stories and giving advice to the lady doing her nails…lol.
Then Johnny gave mom a mini massage while he told her jokes and found out how she would like her hair.
He played a little harmonic song for her, cut her hair and inevitably told her more jokes. Then he played the guitar and sang her a couple songs. My mom enjoyed every moment and I think they enjoyed her too.
I love looking back at these pictures because I remember how ornery and fun mom was and what a people person she was. A few months after this picture she became ill. She wanted so much to go back to see Johnny but we didn’t make it back.
Later on I mentioned to Johnny how much she wanted to come see him again but that she was too weak for me to take her. He told me, if he had known, he would have come done her hair at my house.
She’s been gone almost 6 years now…Happy Birthday in heaven mom! 🧡

Johnny and the band had a great evening at mother Muffs last Saturday12.10.22
Many of you came out, letting Johnny know how much you missed the music and the band, it meant so much to him. This was a special gig for Johnny. He dedicated it to his mom who died on that date 15 years ago and his brother Danny, who was taken off life support the next day. We can’t thank you enough for your kindness and love of music and of course of Johnny. It was the best support he could have asked for.
