Maybe my pet peeves are actually just my standards. 🤍
The older I get and the longer I’m behind the chair, the more I realize that the little things are what make an appointment feel different.
I don’t want you sitting there wondering when I’m going to show up. I want to be ready for you before you walk through the door.
I don’t want you feeling rushed because we’re trying to fit quality work into a timeline that hasn’t evolved with the industry. Your hair deserves the time it takes to do it well.
I don’t want to wing it. I want to have a plan, pay attention to the details, and be intentional about the work I’m doing.
And the little things matter too. Like the tiny hairs that somehow find their way onto your face and tickle you for the entire appointment. 😂 I know how annoying that can be, so I’m always trying to keep them away from your face as much as possible. And while a little color on the skin can happen, I’ll always do my best to make sure you don’t leave with that dreaded color ring around your hairline.
And most importantly, I don’t want your appointment to become about me. We all have a million things going on in our lives, but when you’re in my chair, I want to leave mine at the door. This time is about you, your hair, your life, your stories, your goals, and hopefully a little time to just breathe.
Because at the end of the day, I don’t just want to give you beautiful hair. I want you to feel valued and cared for while you’re here.
So maybe these aren’t just my pet peeves after all. Maybe they’re simply the standards I’ve created for the kind of experience I want every woman in my chair to have.
Sometimes, one row is all it takes. 🤍
For this client, one row gave her just a little more length and the fullness she felt she was missing. Nothing dramatic, just the right amount of hair to make her feel like herself again.
And while I never want to celebrate the fact that a woman has had a bad experience with extensions, I do see the gift in being able to educate her, rebuild her trust, and show her what a healthy, customized extension experience can actually look like.
Good extensions should never leave you feeling like you have to sacrifice the health of your natural hair to get the hair you want.
They should be thoughtfully customized to your hair, your lifestyle, your goals, and what your natural hair can realistically support.
Getting to be part of that shift for a client is something I’ll never take for granted.
It’s so much more than adding hair. It’s helping someone understand what’s possible when it’s done well.

A little glimpse into my space at Beyond Beauty.
The space I get to create in. The product I genuinely love. The details that make this place feel like mine. And of course getting to do hair.
After all these years behind the chair, I still don’t take for granted that this is what I get to do for a living.
I get to create beautiful hair, have the best conversations, nerd out over extensions, and spend my days with some pretty amazing women.
Honestly, I think I have a pretty dang good job🤍
One thing I’ll always stand behind as a stylist…I’m not going to tell you want you want to hear just to make you happy in the moment.
Sometimes the best thing I can do you too is say, “I don’t think that’s the right move for your hair.”
My job isn’t to give you hair you’re asking for. It’s to understand your hair, lifestyle, goals, and what’s actually going to serve you long-term.
You’re trusting me with your hair and I don’t take that lightly.
A good stylist will give you what you want. A great stylist will also know when to tell you no.

If I were getting extensions for the first time, these are the things I’d be looking for.
Because finding the right stylist is about so much more than liking their Instagram photos.
I’d want someone who specializes in extensions, not just someone who offers them. Someone who prioritizes my natural hair, can show me their grow-outs, understands how to customize color, is transparent about maintenance, and isn’t afraid to tell me “no” when something isn’t a good idea.
Extensions are an investment, and you deserve a stylist who cares about your hair long after you leave the salon.
Save this for when you’re searching for your extension stylist or send it to someone who’s thinking about getting extensions.
I had the joy of doing a long-time friend’s hair, and it’s one of my favorite appointments.
Every year she gets new extensions, and somehow we always end up making a few changes… because let’s be honest, girls love a change.
This year was a big one. We traded her two-row install for one row after testing the waters with her previous set, and once she saw how much coverage and fullness we could still achieve, she was ready to make the leap.
We paired it with a fresh dimensional color, brand-new hair extensions, and a few strategically placed keratin individuals around the front for the most seamless blend and extra fullness where wefts can’t quite reach.
The best part? Creating a look that feels lighter, more comfortable, and completely customized to her.
That’s the beauty of extensions, they should evolve right along with you.
Here’s to another year of beautiful hair... until we decide to change it up again! 🤍
