WHY HOMEMADE SOURDOUGH VS STORE BOUGHT?

Aside from the simple argument that it’s DELICIOUS, homemade sourdough actually has a lot of amazing benefits!

It is rich in prebiotics that not only help with digestion, but it feeds good gut bacteria and promotes a heathy gut microbiome. It also helps with blood sugar management! Sourdough has a lower glycemic index than other breads, so it causes a slower rise blood sugar levels. Sourdough contains a variety of vitamins and nutrients, making it super beneficial to your day-to-day health. Sourdough bread has small to moderate amounts of: iron, manganese, calcium, B1-B6, B12, folate, zinc, potassium, thiamin, niacin, riboflavin, selenium, iron, manganese, magnesium, phosphorus, and vitamin E. It can also help with weight management! Sourdough contains more resistant starch than other breads, which helps you feel full after eating without being digested.

WHAT IS TALLOW?

Tallow is the rendered form of beef fat that has been used for hundreds of years as a natural ingredient to benefit the largest organ of the human body- our skin!

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

It is a skincare SUPERFOOD! Because tallow is non commodogenic and bioidentical to human fat and sebum, it is easily absorbed into the human skin without clogging pores and doesn’t leave a greasy residue. It contains so many nutrients, vitamin A, D, E, K, and B12, anti-bacterial (yet it won’t strip your skin of good bacteria!), lipids that seal in moisture and prevent fluid loss, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids which aid as an anti-inflammatory, as well as anti-aging properties which antioxidants that prevent the break down of collagen. It can also serve as a protection from sun damage and contains Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) found in grass-fed tallow which has anti-cancer properties and is found in studies to have a possibility to prevent breast cancer.
