What do some Massage Therapists see?

💥Before talking about injury prevention, I have categorized the 3 primary causes of most injuries.
🔑This is an important framework to understand because before talking about injury prevention, it’s important to understand the nature and mechanism of injury. This mechanism or cause of injury will obviously change the way in which you approach injury prevention.
➡️Traumas/accidents are probably the ones you might have the least control over. Although obviously there is basic safety practices we all have to mitigate these such as wearing seatbelts, wearing helmets, following traffic laws, using safety equipment on a job etc.
➡️Overuse injuries come down to the principle of overload. You have placed a strain on your body beyond its capacity. So the approach for injury prevention is 3 fold.
1: Build capacity (typically strength and conditioning)
2: Use progressive overload (don’t overload too quickly)
3. Ensure your movement is efficient to maximize performance (use good technique)
➡️Injuries from “underuse” or inactivity. Those who sit all day for work often are confused as to why their back or neck hurts when all they have done is sit. Sitting for a long time in any one position can cause stress on specific areas of the body. And you combine that with stress and tight muscles from the stress it can cause issues. Then of course you have your weekend warriors for whom it is a combination of underuse and overuse. They sit for 40 hours all week with no exercise then go and try to sprint competitively on the weekends.
🔥Here are some injury prevention principles for these scenarios:
1. Implement movement in the work day to break up sitting stress
2. Vary sitting and standing postures
3. Have an exercise regiment to build you bodies capacity so you can play your weekend sports
💥We can obviously go in a lot more detail on a lot of this and every situation is different, but these are some good starting principles. Let me know what questions you have on how you can prevent injuries for yourself or for your employees.

Why is circulation so important?
Circulation allows oxygen, nutrients, chemical messengers (think hormones) and immune cells to be transported through the blood. This then allows metabolic waste products (such as CO2 and lactic acid) to be removed so the body can function and heal properly.
These are natural bodily processes that, due to many lifestyle factors, get clogged up over time causing us to become sluggish and not on top of our game.
This is where the BEMER comes in. It stimulates the body to conduct these natural processes allowing for rapid recovery. Give us a call to schedule an appointment and check it out!

Essential Oils
They are for every day use when we have done the research on how to use them.
There are many dangers.
I don't use any toxic candles or plug-ins because of my furry babies in the past.
Essential oils are just as powerful and dangerous if used inappropriately.
I love my essential oils. They have many great benefits when used by an experienced aroma therapist or herbalist.
They are Medicinal!
Please do not just diffuse for hours at a time either. They are meant to only diffuse for 20 min to an hour a day.
You can poison or have allergy symptoms from essential oils. They are safe if you research before use.
Animals have a really hard time here a story share:
Dog Poisoned by the Diffuser
Saturday night I got home late and my dog didn't recognize me. Being a nanny I thought I woke him up and he was having a night terror. Sunday, he was still acting weird. I realized that I had been running my new diffuser and decided to turn it off. Sunday afternoon, he was feeling better.
Today at work, my dog sitter said that he wouldn't come out from under the bed. It was very odd as he is a happy dog.
I came from work early and again, he was very confused about who I was.
So I took him to emergency vet.
It turns out that the tea tree oil I was using in the diffuser is toxic for dogs. Thankfully the test showed that his liver was ok but we weren't out of the woods yet. He was given fluids under his skin to get the toxins out.
The vet and the poison control are saying that they see these cases often now that the popularity of essential oil is growing.
Please make sure that the essential oils you are burning are not toxic for your pets.
Here is a list of essential oils not to use if you have a dog at home

Bruxism
Definition By Mayo Clinic Staff
Bruxism (BRUK-siz-um) is a condition in which you grind, gnash or clench your teeth. If you have bruxism, you may unconsciously clench your teeth together during the day or grind them at night, which is called sleep bruxism.
Bruxism may be mild and may not even require treatment. However, it can be frequent and severe enough to lead to jaw disorders, headaches, damaged teeth and other problems. Because you may have sleep bruxism and be unaware of it until complications develop, it's important to know the signs and symptoms of bruxism and to seek regular dental care.
Signs and symptoms of bruxism may include:
Teeth grinding or clenching, which may be loud enough to awaken your sleep partner
Teeth that are worn down, flattened, fractured or chipped
Worn tooth enamel, exposing deeper layers of your tooth
Increased tooth sensitivity
Jaw pain or tightness in your jaw muscles
Tired jaw muscles
Earache — because of severe jaw muscle contractions, not a problem with your ear
Headache
Chronic facial pain
Damage from chewing on the inside of your cheek
Indentations on your tongue
