To my sweet clients,

I've put off making a post because I'm really not sure what to say, but an announcement is long overdue.

With a heavy heart, I'm making this post to announce that my short time in the beauty industry is coming to a close.

There are so many things I could say about the industry - some good, some not so much. But I'll sum it up in just a few words: it has completely changed me.

Going into cosmetology school, I was nothing more than an 18-year-old girl fresh out of high school, with my biggest cross to bare being a social anxiety disorder. I couldn't connect with people; I could hardly speak to them. And when my cosmetology instructor told me in my interview that this profession was 85% communication, I thought it best if I turned around and walked right out the door. But I stayed. And I still find it true that God kept me there. And though I still carry that cross, Christ has used this profession to make it lighter and lighter.

Through this career, I have met so many people who have become so dear to me. I have laughed, cried, worried, and prayed with and over so many clients in this short time. I prayed over every appointment, stressing to have every client leave my chair feeling better than how they arrived - physically and mentally. I have built relationships, heard testimonies and given mine. I began this career not knowing how God would work on me from start to finish.

Throughout my time in the industry, I have found God, lost Him, lost myself, and found Him again. I have been through trials and found my way out. I was introduced to the love of my life. I got married. I moved away from home. And, in contradiction to my cross, I found such an intense love for people. And it's through this career that God showed me my next path.

I'm currently a full-time student at Southwest Mississippi Community College, studying to become a psychologist focusing on mental health. I have plans for a private practice, keeping it faith-based and affordable. My favorite part of being a stylist was the people, and that part I will be continuing as I step into the calling God has given me.

If there's one thing this has taught me, it's that stepping into a new chapter isn't always exciting - it's bittersweet. And I will forever be thankful for the time I spent behind the chair.
