If its time, I have the perfect at-home-mask hack for you. This is literally how I fit in skin treatments even for myself.

Before your daily shower, cleanse your skin real quick and apply your mask of choice. Then head to the shower and let the steam be your assistant to your treatment. The perfect amount of time for a mask is typically 10-15 minutes; then removed while still under the shower head. Warm water is best! No hot water or you’ll counteract the moisturizing benefits of your mask.

No mess. Multi tasking. Self care hack at its finest!

I wanted to take a moment and share with you a little about my philosophy toward skin health. Although I do have a bend and preference toward botanicals and “natural” ingredients, (this term is widely misused by the way), I also recognize that not everything “natural” is safe for the skin, and not everything that is a “synthetic” or a “chemical” is bad for the skin. Just for argument sake, water is considered a chemical, so I do see a lot of misuse of terms and technical meanings. It can cause a lot of grey area, so my goal to be as clear as I can throughout my journey as a holistic esthetician. Holistic simply means taking into account the person as a whole, including but not limited to their mental, social, intrinsic and extrinsic factors, and the connection between mind and body. For example, STRESS plays a huge role in the formation of acne and I believe is a factor in many health issues that we see today. So how would one treat STRESS within a facial treatment? I do this by eliminating the need to rush, and treating the body as a whole, via massage and relaxing techniques. This is just one example of many that is used to treat someone holistically from a mental or emotional state.

The same goes for my product lines. I’m choosing lines and formulations that are going to treat the skin issue at hand without compromising the skin barrier. Taking into account the skin as a WHOLE and what’s best for long term results.

This would be considered corneotherapy and blends beautifully within my belief to treat the body as a whole. This is loaded topic, but thought I’d start by giving a quick definition of what corneotherapy is via corneotherapy.org.

Corneotherapy is a remedial skin treatment methodology with its core principle being the repair and maintenance of the skin barrier defence systems. As the name suggests, Corneotherapy is closely related to Corneobiology, which is the physiological, biologic and biochemical processes of the stratum corneum; the outermost layer of the epidermis.
