What's growing in the garden?!

This weekend, I will be working with Tanacetum parthenium, also known as feverfew. It is a member of the Asteraceae family. This means it is related to the likes of chamomile and daisy.

It is a perennial in our area (zone 7a/b) and can grow to be up to 3 feet tall. It produces clusters of numerous white flowers with yellow centers that resemble chamomile. Unlike chamomile, the beneficial constituents are found in the leaves.

Modern-day use of this herb is most often associated with headaches. Traditionally, however, it was associated with women and used to support a healthy menstrual cycle, lessen cramps, and assist with infertility.

Feverfew is also known for having anti-inflammatory properties. I think this will be my area of focus as I craft things with it.
