Finished this full spine piece, and instead of just posting it, I wanted to actually critique the work.

The design was built around what the client genuinely wanted: a lunar moth, daisies, asters, celestial elements, and “Sky above, earth below, fire within.” I used AI as part of my design lab to help explore the composition and organize those ideas, but the decisions, adjustments, placement, stencil, and tattooing were done by me.

I think the long, narrow composition follows her spine well. The moth creates a clear focal point, and the turquoise gives it separation from the mostly black-and-gray botanical work. I also like the asymmetry in the flowers because it keeps the piece organic.

Where I see room to grow is in some of the smallest leaves, petals, dots, and fine details. A little more breathing room in certain areas would help those elements stay cleaner and more readable as they age.

AI is another tool in my design process—not a replacement for the artist or the client’s ideas. I’m interested in hearing what other artists and clients see when they look at the finished tattoo.

A son’s name is more than just a name. It’s something you carry with you for life.

Alaric.
Worked right into the design instead of just added beside it. Clean, personal, and made specifically for him.
