Dark spots are not dirt, and scrubbing will not make them disappear. I any believe I even have to clarify this one. SPF is not just for beach days, since everyday light and heat can deepen pigment. More aggressive does not mean better, because irritation can create more pigment.

Sun damage, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and freckles can all look similar at a glance, but they develop for different reasons and respond to different approaches. Sun spots come from years of UV exposure, melasma is often driven by hormones and heat, PIH follows inflammation in the skin, and freckles are mostly genetic, but need sun exposure to develop.
