Wow, what a year it’s been! As 2024 comes to a close, I just want to take a moment to show gratitude for your continued support and loyalty to The OMGi Salon. Thank you for keeping us in your budget and for the many referrals.

On a personal note, I’m excited to share a big milestone I hit in 2024: I officially completed my Trichology Certification! This means we’re kicking off 2025 with some brand-new Trichology services to help you level up your hair and scalp health. Celebrating 4 Years of Beauty and Transformation!

November 6th marks the 4th anniversary of The OMGi Salon! I am deeply grateful for each client, supporter, and friend who has been part of this incredible journey. Your loyalty and trust inspire us everyday, and I thank you for being an essential part of my story.

Hair Tip Tuesday:

I heard silk press season is here 👀 Here's a few tips...
1. Utilize the use of large flexirods to preserve your curls. Separate hair into 4 sections and wrap hair around 1-4 rods (the more rods, the more/tighter the curl). This will also help to keep the roots taut (for my head sweaters) and reduce the need to re-apply heat.
2. Do not remove your scarf or rods in the same room you had hot water running in! Wait as long as you can or go into a room furthest away from your bathroom to avoid exposure to moisture in the air as this can cause your hair to begin reverting to its' natural state.
***HEAT TRAINED HAIR IS A MYTH***
Heat styling temporarily breaks the hair's hydrogen (temporary) bonds, which will 'reset' when wet. If your hair doesn't reset to its natural pattern that means the disulfide (permanent) bonds have been broken resulting in heat damage.

It's about that time for the cooler temp, wetter environment & getting dark earlier (insert angry face). I don't know about you, but I have to work extra hard to not get hit with the seasonal blues. I want to encourage you to keep your spirits high; take on a new hobby or project, read a new book, stay connected with healthy community, do whatever that will keep your mental in a positive space during the gloomy season.

Hair Tip Tuesday:

Did you know that stress can disrupt your natural hair growth cycle? Yes, chronic stress can elevate cortisol levels, which could push your hair follicles into the telogen (resting) phase and cause mass shedding. If you are noticing a change in your hair, take a moment to assess the things happening in your life and how they're impacting you. While some things could be medical and may need a deeper dive, doing this simple assessment and making changes could be the first steps into a better mental space and benefit our hair health.

The Last Quarter of 2024

We've stepped into the last quarter of 2024, have you been knocking out your goals?!

Starting October 7th, I will officially begin my Trichology training, allowing me to bring even more expertise and care to your hair and scalp needs. To accommodate my school schedule, I'll be shifting to Tuesday through Friday, with every other Saturday still dedicated to "The Littles". This schedule will go through the end of 2024. I appreciate y'all being flexible and I can’t wait to share new knowledge and innovative treatments as I expand my knowledge in the beauty industry!

Hair Tip Tuesday:

I know as a stylist, I push the importance of staying up on your outward hair maintenance like, hydration treatments, trims & low manipulation styles but I want to also emphasize the importance of taking care of your hair & scalp from the inside. Maintaining a well balanced diet, consuming vitamins (B-vitamin, biotin & vitamin D), iron, and omega-3 fatty acids contribute to strong and shiny hair.

In summary, take care of your inside and the outside will flourish 🌻
