This is Stormy one last time.

We said goodbye to Thony yesterday. I asked a friend to lead his service telling her only that I wanted the homily to be about love and hope, giving her a passage from the book of Galatians that I knew was important to Thony on which to base her message.

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." (Galatians 5:22-23).

Numerous people spoke about Thony, about how he made them his family. Over and over, they spoke of his love for everyone he encountered.

Some of us recited the prayer from 13th Warrior:
“Lo, there do I see my father. Lo, there do I see my mother, and my sisters, and my brothers. Lo, there do I see the line of my people, Back to the beginning! Lo, they do call to me. They bid me take my place among them, In the halls of Valhalla! Where the brave may live forever!”

We sang all five verses of Amazing Grace.

And finally was read the Canticle of the Sun, written by Francis of Assisi in the 13th century:

Most High, all-powerful, good Lord,
Yours are the praises, the glory, the honor, and all blessings.

To You alone, Most High, do they belong,
and no man is worthy to mention Your name.

Praised be You, my Lord, with all your creatures;
especially Brother Sun, who is the day, and through whom You give us light.

And he is beautiful and radiant with great splendor,
and bears a likeness to You, Most High One.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars;
in heaven You formed them clear and precious and beautiful.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Brother Wind,
and through the air, cloudy and serene,
and every kind of weather through which You give sustenance to Your creatures.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Water,
which is very useful and humble and precious and chaste.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Brother Fire,
through whom You light the night;
and he is beautiful and playful and robust and strong.

Praised be You, my Lord, through Sister Mother Earth,
who sustains us and governs us and who produces
varied fruits with colored flowers and herbs.

Praised be You, my Lord,
through those who give pardon for Your love,
and bear infirmity and tribulation.

Blessed are those who endure in peace
for by You, Most High, they shall be crowned.

Praised be You, my Lord,
through our Sister Bodily Death,
from whom no living man can escape.

Woe to those who die in mortal sin.
Blessed are those whom death will find in Your most holy will,
for the second death shall do them no harm.

Praise and bless my Lord,
and give Him thanks,
and serve Him with great humility.
Amen.

I have sent my love off in a manner that encompassed who he was.

Thank you for the outpouring of love over these last weeks, thank you for your calls and texts. Thank you for joining me in saying farewell to him.

Til we meet again, may the Divine hold you in the palm of their hand.

Namaste.

Good morning! This is Stormy posting: Thony had a heart cath yesterday and was immediately admitted into the Greenville ICU in preparation for being transported to Medical City Heart in Dallas for a quadruple bypass (he never does anything halfway!).

Three years ago when he had that awful infection we asked you guys to help us out with medical expenses. This time we have insurance but we are still going to need some help for everyday expenses since he'll be out of work and I can't work. I am going to set up an auction page and start listing things that we have made as well as craft items (SCA and non-SCA types) and whatever other random bits and bobs I have sitting around. If you would like to be in that group please message me here on Thony's page or message me at Stormy Elizabeth Stogner Medina.

Thank you!
