Last year seemed to bring on Quarantine babies and this year I’m excited to hear my guest’s wedding journey. It may be a tough start to this new year but everyone should remember that:

Won’t be taking new guests until Summer (will be focusing on my own personal journey) and hopefully by then we can fully operate.

The part of our career less seldom talked about is the journeys our clients go through and share with us. Amongst all the stories, pregnancy ones I cherish the most. Women are beast, maaan! 💪🏾

No, I never claimed to be the best lash artist - there’s many parts of this set I see that needs improving. I should upload how I currently do her lashes to show there’s always room to grow.

For any job or career path you choose, know that you have to start somewhere. We all do. Social Media puts everyone on a competitive or comparative mind frame and being the best or what defines success is totally subjective!

I’m learning that I work best at my own pace - I work to live (as oppose to live to work) has been my mantra during this pandemic and I’ve never felt more content.

Why it should be taken more seriously?
It’s one thing giving an artist more work during a fill, it’s another giving an artist 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒐𝒏.

What that means is the lack of following proper aftercare guidance DOES result in permanent lash loss or bacterial development. It does happen. I’ve seeent it.

Not to take away this little achievement but I do want to address the “shelter in place” on my social media since I do most things in person. ↯⠀

Canela Beauty Lounge will be closed until the ban is lifted and all appointments have been cancelled. There is no definite opening date for Contra Costa County, unfortunately, as it can be pushed forward. I will privately message everyone once rebooking is OK’d. ⠀

⇾ I want to address ANY artist (cosmo, esthi and barbers) who are working during closure, to accept clientele’s from other artist is not only doing a disservice to those business owners but to all the frontline workers who are putting the overtime to combat COVID-19. ⠀

⇾ To anyone looking for someone still open, to those working from home or coming to your home still defeats the purpose of a shelter in place. Everyone’s hair, lashes, nails are currently looking a mess but it’s temporary.⠀

Please don’t be selfish. This isn’t helping small businesses nor essential workers at all. There are MANY ways to support a small business - do your part and stay home. We will all be here for you once normalcy resumes! ⠀

A bit surreal to think I’d be spending my 34th birthday in quarantine (and yes I got dolled up just to chill in the living room 🤪). ⠀

But here I am. Here we all are. ⠀

Carrying a small business isn’t easy but I can’t say it enough, meeting the women I do on the daily, sharing their lives with me has helped me a lot - I’m not a perfect artist nor person but they’ve helped me grow in both aspects. 2020 has personally been an awakening to new things I never thought I’d experience but the Pisces in me just keeps swimming. ⠀

Canela Beauty Lounge will be 3 years old in a few weeks. I’ll be extending my gratitude in an upcoming post to those in these trying times. I’ll be personally taking a social media hiatus in the meantime but best wishes to you all. ⠀
