Lucky's Barbershop & Shave Parlor

This is the part of the job and the story that I’ve always struggled with the most. These small and humble shops have become a literal family to me and for so many of us under its tin ceiling canopies. Alex is no exception to the rule when I say Family as I type this with a mixed bag of feelings. This November our pal, friend, fellow Barber and resident all around good guy is moving south to the state of Connecticut. Selfishly we’ll miss him dearly, but proudly, we see him continue to grow and lead with his heart into the future.
-It’s not often and never easy seeing the people in your life that you admire and respect depart from our close circle here, but I can tell you that words barely describe what means to me.
In under a decade this person who was once a stranger was to became a fast friend and a quick study of the big and bold world that awaited him. His quiet demeanor and fierce love for the trade of Barbering is seldom seen and as genuine and sincere as anyone I’ve ever met in my tenure as a Barber. I can attest to his honest enthusiasm and care that he has for his friends, his family and the people that he cares about most.
-If you’ve had the pleasure of seeing him grow into the person that he is today or you’ve been a part of his journey as a Barber, I personally thank you for your time and I thank Alex for his many years of work and dedication to all of us here at Lucky’s. We’ll miss you pal. ❤️

To say that this year in both of the shops was special would be an understatement. We end the year high on morale, but as we look back at the last 365 days in reflection to remember that we have persevered with great consistency and care for each other, for our customers and for ourselves. This year, like many before it has seen its fair share of love, loss, birth and death. The weight of these continued life experiences has been met with support and encouragement from the likes of so many of you. The bonds and relationships that you have shared and we have forged has made an often cold and vacant world feel warm and welcoming in our chairs and in our hearts. It may be only a haircut to some, but for us -it allows us to exist in our communities with our heads held high, proud of who we are and what we’ve become as Barbers and as people over time. Thank you for cementing your confidence and your trust with us and our business for so many years. Our commitment remains steadfast and firm, and we promise this year will be full of the same responsibility of quality and respect that you know and deserve. THANK YOU✌️❤️

WE ARE HIRING! We are currently looking for a full time Barber in our Portsmouth location and also someone to join our Concord shop. There may be some opportunity to work in both locations as well. Iron sharpens Iron. In my opinion, not one person possesses all of the information, knowledge or skills solely that cannot benefit from the support, wisdom and strength from a strong team. In this particular photo you will see exactly 86.4% of the humans that currently comprise said team, and please understand that WITHOUT THEM-this would not be possible. And please understand that WITHOUT YOU none of this would exist.

If you’re reading this, I’d appreciate if you could take a moment to consider the possibility of adopting/rescuing/fostering animals from shelters. It would mean the world to me as there are so many animals available that need homes and their lives depend on generous care and donations from people like ourselves. I promise you that my world has forever been changed from the unconditional love and acceptance that has been extended to me, and I promise you that the same could happen to you. I think we have a lot to learn from them.
