involves the usage of a plastic cup, a pump, and a medium such as lotion or oil to create a vacuum. The therapist may leave the cups in one place or move them around the body. What happens is the blood gets pulled to the surface and filters down through the various fibers differently - thus improving and allowing the tissues to and expand. Also, excess heat caused by is given the opportunity to escape through the opened pores of the skin.

And sometimes, yes, the cups do leave marks that resemble a bruise, (a.k.a. a contusion), however, it is important to note the difference - a contusion is caused by an impact to the body, which is the opposite effect of what a vacuum offers. These marks typically disappear within 7-14 days in most clients.

This therapy can be a stand-alone treatment or added to a regular Therapeutic Massage.
