Well…this was not on the September content calendar. 😅

After a car accident this week, the ER initially told me there was no fracture or dislocation in my ankle.

Unfortunately, after continuing to have significant pain and being unable to bear weight, I went back to be reevaluated—and urgent care found that it is fractured after all.

Right now I’ve been instructed to stay completely non-weight-bearing for the next 6–8 weeks, so obviously that creates a few logistical problems when your career involves standing behind a salon chair. 🙃

I’m still figuring out exactly what this means for my schedule and what accommodations may or may not be possible, so if you currently have an appointment with me, please don’t panic or cancel anything yourself. I’ll be reaching out individually as I figure out the safest plan.

I’m not going anywhere. ❤️

This may just look a little different for a while.

Okay, let’s talk about the mildly rude reality of red hair. 😂🔥

Yes. Red really does fade faster.

Red color molecules are notoriously difficult to keep locked into the hair, which is why that insanely vibrant fresh-color feeling can start changing faster than some other shades.

But that does not mean your only options are:

A. have gorgeous red hair for approximately 11 minutes 😂
or
B. give up on red altogether.

A few things make a BIG difference:

🔥 Turn the water temperature down. Super-hot showers and fresh red are not besties.

🔥 Wash less often when you can. Every shampoo gives some of that color another opportunity to leave.

🔥 Use products meant for color-treated hair. Your random “whatever was on sale” shampoo may not be doing your color any favors.

🔥 Plan for gloss/refresh appointments. You don’t necessarily need your entire color service redone every time your red needs a little life put back into it.

And probably the most important part:

We should talk about maintenance BEFORE choosing your red.

Someone who wants to visit the salon frequently can make a very different color choice than someone who tells me, “Girl, I am seeing you every three months MAX.” 😂

Both can have beautiful hair.

They just shouldn’t necessarily have the same hair.

She came in wanting fall hair and a glow up. Her inspo was giving cinnamon dolce latte. We knew a chop was needed too, and she was ready to go for a lob with some texture and movement to bring her hair back to life and really reflect her bubbly personality.

I set out to add some dimensional ribbons of that gorgeous cinnamon color, and add some deeper chocolate to her base that will still grow out soft but help add that pop to the bright copper/caramel.

And this was the result. ✨
