You’ve welcomed her, trusted her with your skin, shared your stories, referred your friends, and filled her schedule to the point that we’ve needed to open additional appointment days… and we haven’t taken a single bit of that for granted.

So, before our Christmas Savings Event arrives, we wanted to do something a little different. Not because it’s time for another sale, but because we have something worth celebrating and that something is YOU.

Which are you?

Nose tox is having a moment on social media… but does everyone need it? Absolutely not. 🤍

Neuromodulator around the nose can be a beautiful little detail when there is actually a muscular reason to treat it. Depending on your anatomy, we may use small amounts to address things like a nasal tip that pulls downward with animation, bunny lines, or excessive nostril flaring in certain patients.

What it cannot do is of equal importance, though. It cannot magically make your nose smaller, narrow the bones, or completely change its structure. That’s a rhinoplasty result and that distinction matters.

At Skin + Aesthetics, we don’t believe in adding an injection point simply because it’s trending. We look at your anatomy, your movement, your concerns, and the entire face before deciding whether treating an area makes sense. Sometimes the best treatment is a few carefully placed units, sometimes it’s a completely different treatment, and sometimes our recommendation is: you don’t need anything there at all.

That’s the difference between treating a trend and creating a treatment plan! Did you know neuromodulator could be used around the nose?

Two hours a month are never seen by patients and they are some of the most important hours we spend in this clinic.

Twice a month, we close the schedules for an hour and learn together. One meeting is dedicated to looking at current research: what the evidence actually says, where its limitations are, and whether what we’re doing still represents the best available evidence for our patients.

The other is a deeper dive into one topic like anatomy, acne, rosacea, barrier function, ingredients, treatment modalities, complications, or whatever is most relevant to the work happening inside our clinic.

Everyone is paid to be there. No patients are booked during that time. We lock our doors and order some treats or leave and take our meeting to a local restaurant. And Blakelee spends time outside of clinic preparing the education just as she would for a lecture because this is what is important to her.

Could we fill those hours with appointments? Absolutely. But continuing education shouldn’t be something we squeeze in when there’s time left over. We make time for it.

The goal isn’t simply for each person at S+A to become better at their job, although we want that too! It’s also for us to understand one another’s roles, ask better questions, challenge what we think we know, and create a more thoughtful and connected experience for the patient moving through our clinic.

We don’t want to do something simply because “that’s how it’s always been done.” We want to keep asking: What does the evidence say? Is there a better way? And what is best for the person trusting us with their care?

That’s what mentorship looks like at S+A and that’s why those two hours will continue to have a place on our calendar. 🤍

Well… we have a very good problem. 😂

Cassi has been too good at her job, you all have been too good at keeping her booked, and her schedule is officially getting a little difficult to sneak into. 🤍

So, we convinced her to give us ONE extra clinic day and decided that if we were going to open up some rare week-of availability, we might as well make it fun for you, too.

Wednesday, September 30 ONLY, we have a handful of appointments available with Cassi for discounted facials, HydraFacial perks + a little take-home treat from us. ✨

And while we love a good excuse to spoil you, this is really a giant THANK YOU. Watching Cassi grow into her role, continue investing in her education, and build relationships with so many of our patients has been one of our favorite parts of this year. The fact that her books are filling up is something we’re incredibly proud of and something we never take for granted. So if you’ve been trying to get on her schedule, this is your chance. 👀

Many of you have been worried about Maddie after yesterday’s post…

First things first: Maddie isn’t going anywhere. Alongside working full-time and being a mom, Maddie has also been back in school. As she moves closer to her goal, she’ll also begin slowly transitioning into her next role at Skin + Aesthetics: Aesthetic RN!

Little by little, you’ll start seeing her step away from the front desk and into the treatment room. She’ll begin assisting Blakelee with procedures and spending time beside her every day learning the things that cannot and should not be learned overnight: anatomy, assessment, injection technique, laser physics, patient selection, treatment planning, complication recognition and management, skincare, and most importantly, how we make decisions about when to treat, how to treat, and when not to treat at all.

Adding another clinical provider to this practice was never going to be about simply finding someone with letters behind their name and handing them a schedule and we hope we’ve made that clear. Instead, we are intentionally building our team and we are so proud of where it’s heading.

Maddie also isn’t entering aesthetics without a foundation. Her background in cosmetology, professional makeup artistry, skincare, and years spent inside an aesthetic dermatology practice have already given her an understanding of faces, skin, proportion, and patient care that can’t be replicated in a weekend training. Now we get to build the clinical foundation underneath it… slowly, intentionally, and side by side.

Regardless of whether you see Blakelee, Cassi, or eventually see Maddie, the standards, education, and ethics will always be the same. As someone new steps into the role Maddie cared for so beautifully, it gives her the space to spend the coming months learning, observing, assisting, studying, and preparing for this next chapter without rushing any part of it.

There is still plenty of road between here and there and that’s intentional, but we couldn’t be more excited about where that road is leading.

Maddie isn’t leaving Skin + Aesthetics. She’s growing it. 🖤

This one feels a little different than your typical “we’re hiring” post. 🤍

For the last two years, Maddie has helped set the standard for what I want it to feel like to be a patient at Skin + Aesthetics. She has learned names, remembered stories, answered countless phone calls, solved problems before I even knew they existed, kept our days moving, celebrated with our patients, worried about them alongside us, and cared about this clinic as if it were her own.

And thankfully, she isn’t going anywhere, but we will chat more about that soon…

Today, we instead want to announce we are officially looking for our Patient Experience Coordinator and we’re looking for someone new to step into the role she has cared for so well. We’re not simply looking for someone to answer the phone, schedule appointments, and check patients out. We’re looking for someone who understands that the person answering that phone may be the very first impression someone has of our practice, that a patient who seems frustrated may actually be nervous, that remembering someone’s name matters, that following through matters, professionalism matters, and the smallest interactions can completely change how cared for someone feels.

We can teach someone our software, our treatments, our scheduling systems, and the thousand tiny operational details that come with working here. What is much harder to teach is kindness, emotional intelligence, initiative, discretion, attention to detail, good judgment, and a genuine desire to take care of people. Those are the things we’re hiring for.

We could tell you about treatments all day. We could talk about devices, skincare, education, safety, protocols and why we do things the way we do. But some of the feedback that means the most to us has very little to do with any of that.

Because those are the things we hope you notice.

We want you to love your results, of course, but we also want you to feel heard when you sit in our chair, comfortable asking questions, educated enough to make your own decisions, safe enough to tell us when you’re nervous, and confident that the person taking care of you genuinely cares about what happens after you leave.

There are a lot of places you could choose to trust with your face and your skin. The fact that so many of you continue to choose us is something we never want to become accustomed to.

Your retinol probably isn’t the problem. Your TikTok education might be. 👀

Retinoids are some of the most studied and useful ingredients we have in skincare and somehow they’ve also become some of the most confusing.

So, a few things we’d like to clear up:
+ No, peeling until your face hurts is not the goal.
+ No, retinoids don’t simply “thin your skin.”
+ No, retinol and tretinoin aren’t interchangeable terms.
+ No, you don’t automatically need the strongest percentage.
+ And no, using one every single night does not earn you extra skincare credit.

What actually matters? The right retinoid + the right strength + the right frequency + a skin barrier healthy enough to tolerate it. Retinoids can be incredibly useful for acne, pigmentation, texture, photoaging and fine lines but more aggressive does not automatically mean more effective. If your skin is perpetually red, burning, peeling or irritated, we’re not going to congratulate you for “pushing through.” We’re probably going to change something. 😂

Because the goal is not to see how much retinoid your face can survive. The goal is healthier skin.
