I'm Old Now: Official Member of the Getting Older Club

I think I've officially joined the "getting older" club.

While moving things around to take apart my carport that was damaged during the January ice storm, I managed to misplace my keys. I searched here, searched there, and even looked in places I knew I had already checked.

Then there's the classic moment when I walk into a room... and completely forget why I went in there in the first place!

I used to laugh at my sister when she would find money she had misplaced. I'd tease her and say, "How do you lose money?"

Well, life has a funny way of humbling you.

Now I may be misplacing my keys as a sign that I'm getting older, but I've still got a little youth left in me…

I can still find my money!

Maybe my memory is slowing down, but my wallet and I are still on speaking terms.

Celebrating Ms. Ernestine Hollins: Honoring the Hands The Storytellers

As America celebrates 250 years on this Fourth of July, I celebrate something just as powerful—the people who opened the doors of history for me. My love for history began in the 8th grade with an extraordinary teacher, Ms. Ernestine Hollins. She didn’t just teach dates and events; she taught meaning, purpose, and perspective. She made history live.

One of my favorite quotes has always been "You can’t unlive history, but you shouldn’t relive history.” Ms. Hollins helped me understand why that matters. She taught me—and countless students across the Corinth School District—to learn from our past, honor its lessons, and walk forward with wisdom.

As this nation marks its semiquincentennial, I honor her legacy. Thank you, Ms. Hollins, for shaping minds, inspiring curiosity, and giving us the gift of understanding where we come from.

Don't miss the message trying to figure out the Messenger. You guys better stay with me. I'm going somewhere with these inspirations. Have a super Saturday. Let's go!

Command the Morning... and Take Authority Over Your Day

How you begin your morning often determines how you will face the rest of your day. Before the demands, distractions, and challenges of life begin, take time to seek God and let Jesus Christ be the foundation of your day.

Speak life over yourself. Declare God's promises. Pray with faith. Expect His guidance, protection, wisdom, favor, and peace to lead you every step of the way.

Use this Daily Dose Command, the Morning list to help you start each day with purpose, confidence, and spiritual authority. When you begin with God, you are better prepared for whatever the day may bring.

Let Jesus be the foundation for your day, and watch how He strengthens, directs, and blesses your path.

Welcome to today's Daily Dose.

THE DAILY DOSE — SHORT FEATURE

Black America & the 250th Anniversary: The Story That Can’t Be Ignored Black Americans were present at the very beginning of this nation’s story.

As the United States prepares to mark 250 years since 1776, the anniversary brings a needed spotlight to the people whose labor, courage, and sacrifice helped shape a country that did not yet recognize their freedom.

In 1776, roughly 500,000 Africans were enslaved, living in every colony and powering the economy that made independence possible.

Yet even under bo***ge, Black Americans stepped into the fight for liberty. Crispus Attucks became the first casualty of the Revolution.

James Armistead Lafayette risked his life as a double agent, delivering intelligence that helped secure victory at Yorktown. Thousands more served in the Continental Army or sought freedom through the British lines.

Today, the national America 250 commemoration is working to tell the full story through its Black America 250 initiative — a commitment to honoring 250 years of Black resilience, creativity, leadership, and contribution.

It’s a reminder that Black history isn’t a footnote. It’s a foundation. As the nation celebrates its semiquincentennial, the Daily Dose lifts this truth:

Black Americans were there in 1776. They are here in 2026. And their story continues to shape the soul of the nation.

Life may test you, but don’t let it define you. Greater is inside of you than what’s coming against you. Welcome to your Daily Dose.

The Daily Dose— “Ironing Out My Problems”

I'll admit it—I enjoy ironing.

For many people, ironing is just another household chore. They dread dragging out the ironing board, filling the iron with water, and pressing out wrinkle after wrinkle. But for me, ironing has become much more than a chore. It has become therapy.

Some people think while walking. Others think while driving. I think while ironing.

As I slowly move the iron across a shirt or pair of pants, I find myself placing my problems before the Lord. One wrinkle at a time, He begins to iron out the wrinkles in my mind. Before I know it, what seemed overwhelming begins to look a little straighter.

Life, much like ironing, requires different settings for different situations.

The On/Off switch reminds me that there are times to get busy and times to rest. We can't solve every problem by constantly running. Sometimes we simply need to turn everything off and spend quiet time with God.

The temperature setting teaches wisdom. Every fabric doesn't require the same amount of heat, and every problem doesn't require the same response. Some situations need a gentle touch, while others require courage, determination, and a little more heat. Wisdom is knowing the difference.

The steam control reminds us of God's refreshing presence. Steam softens stubborn wrinkles that heat alone cannot remove. Likewise, God's grace softens hearts that have become hardened by disappointment, hurt, and fear.

Every now and then we need a shot of steam. Life presents stubborn problems that refuse to move. Those are the moments when we need an extra measure of faith, prayer, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Then there's the spray mist. Sometimes a little moisture is all that's needed to loosen difficult wrinkles. In life, that mist may come in the form of encouragement from a friend, a timely Scripture, a sermon, or a quiet whisper from God reminding us that He is still in control.

One of my favorite settings is self-cleaning. Over time, minerals build up inside an iron and reduce its effectiveness. The same thing happens in our lives. Bitterness, pride, unforgiveness, worry, and negative thinking can clog our hearts. Every now and then we need God to perform a spiritual self-cleaning so we can function the way He intended.

I also appreciate the auto shut-off feature. If the iron is left unattended, it automatically turns itself off before it becomes dangerous. What a reminder that sometimes God lovingly shuts doors, delays plans, or stops us from going in the wrong direction. What we call disappointment may actually be divine protection.

The vertical steam setting allows us to remove wrinkles while garments are hanging. That's a lesson all by itself. Not every problem has to be laid out flat before God can fix it. Some situations can be handled while we're standing, walking, working, and living. God is fully capable of working on us while life continues around us.

One of the best ironing tips is to always start with the lowest heat. If more heat is needed, you can always increase it. But once a garment is scorched, the damage is often permanent. That's good advice for life as well. Start gently with people. Use patience before anger. Use understanding before criticism. Once harsh words leave our mouths, they are difficult to take back.

As I iron, I often think about two people whose inventions changed this simple household task forever. Henry W. Seely patented the modern electric iron in 1882, making ironing safer and more practical. Ten years later, Sarah Boone, one of the first African American women to receive a U.S. patent, designed an improved folding ironing board that made ironing sleeves and fitted garments much easier. Their inventions remind us that even ordinary tasks can become extraordinary when someone is willing to improve them.

So the next time life hands you a few wrinkles, don't become discouraged.

Pull out your iron and ironing board. Spend a little quiet time with the Lord. Let Him adjust the temperature, apply the steam, clean your heart, and smooth out what seems impossible.

This message may sound a little starchy...but with God's help, everything will come out straight.

Don't miss the message trying to figure out the Messenger. You guys better stay with me. I'm going somewhere with these inspirations. Have a
mindful Monday. Let's go!

Suits You Too Success Story

There’s a miracle in the works……
and I BELIEVE IT!🙌🏼

God is always doing things in the unseen places of our lives. Tavin Jones got the BIGGEST MIRACLE yesterday. After a year of praying and holding fast to the promises of God his daughter Haven showed up to surprise him for Father’s Day. In 2011 lost in his addiction and heading to prison he made a decision to give her the life he wasn’t able to give her and a future that would be bright for her. In Genesis the word tells us, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” What Tavin thought was the end of a relationship was just the BEGINNING and God has so much MORE in store for them. God is in the RESTORING BUSINESS… We are so excited to be able to watch this relationship begin to Bloom..
