Ever pulled out a serum to find it has turned a funky shade?

Or opened a moisturizer only to find its smell has gotten a bit more… pungent?

We’ve all been there.

🌸 With the season of decluttering on its way, it's time to Marie Kondo your skin care shelves.

Age your wine and cheese, but not your skin care products.

Clean out dust and debris from behind the old bottles to keep everything tidy and to reduce the risk of contaminants making their way into products on the daily.

You should be cleaning your makeup brushes regularly, but spring time might be a good reminder to do a deeper clean with gentle soap. 🧼

Please tag me in your shelfies once you're as fresh as spring daisies! 🌼

Yes!! Music to my ears! 🎶

Staying consistent with your skin care regime is key, this includes general life choices too:

🌙 Getting good sleep
💧 Drinking two to three litres of water
🥦 Eating several servings of fruit, veggies
😎 Managing stress
🧺 Washing your pillow cases more often...!!! 📣

We love to see it.

I know I talk a lot about what TO DO before and after your waxes to ensure you get the best results possible.

But did you know there are good and not-so-good TIMES to get waxed? 🤔

Speaking of time, four weeks is the recommended amount of time between waxes, we don’t usually recommend going longer than six weeks if you can help it. ⏳

The longer and thicker the hair is, the more painful it will be. While it may be tempting to shave if you miss the four week mark, DON’T. 🚫

Just get in as soon as you can around the four week mark. ☺️

Located just south of your chin is what the beauty industry refers to as the décolletage—a critical area that often gets overlooked. 😳

Much finer than the skin on your face, the skin on your neck and chest also has fewer sebaceous glands.

Without these natural emollients, your skin dries out more quickly, making it more vulnerable to daily harm from UV rays, wind, cold and pollution.

As a result, lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation appears sooner than on other areas of your body.

Luckily there are steps we can take to protect our skin and set it up for long term success! 💪

I'm here to remind you not to forget about your neck or chest when showering your face with all that loving skin care. 💧

Exfoliation is not just for that glow, it also helps majorly with pain reduction. ⚡️

Exfoliate any areas that will be waxed a day or two before your appointment. When choosing your exfoliate, make sure it's gentle and mild and also contains a soothing ingredient like aloe.

My Top piece of Advice is....

PUT DOWN THAT RAZOR and get waxed! 🍯

Waxing hair grows back thinner and lighter!

Waxing exfoliates skin reducing risks of ingrown hair, while leaving it nice and smooth.

Waxing removes hair by its root, decreasing hair growth over time with results that last up to FOUR weeks!

💃💃💃💃

With shaving, hair grows back thicker and coarser. It irritates the skin leaving it damaged with razor bumps, ingrown hair and razor burn. The results only last for one to two days and it increases hair growth. 🤦‍♀️

WHY? 🤔 Retinol helps unclog your pores, exfoliates and smooths skin. It can diminish the appearance of hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, and improves skin hydration AND treats acne. Okay, wow. Thank you!

WHO? 🙋‍♀️ All skin types can use retinol, but anyone with fair or sensitive skin should be cautious as it may be harder for you to adjust to the potency of retinol. No over-exfoliated or recently sun-damaged skin either. Also not for pregnant women.

WHEN? ⏰ It's popular for people who have hit their thirties. But all ages can reap the rewards of retinol. Dermatologists use it for teens with acne and often recommend that they continue to use it after it's cleared up. 🌛 Use it at night and wear SPF every day as retinol makes your skin more sensitive to UV rays.

HOW? 🤨 Integrate retinol slowly and gently. Start with a small, chocolate chip-sized amount one night. Wait a few days to evaluate your tolerance. If your skin gets red and flaky, mix the retinol formula with your moisturizer. Use retinol once or twice a week at first, and gradually work up to every other day or three times a week....

...PAIRING? 👯‍♀️ Lactic acid pairs really well with retinol! I might also follow up with a hyaluronic acid serum and then a moisturizer.

FORMULA? 🧪 If you’re new to retinol, start off with a low dose of around 0.025%. If you don't have any unwanted reactions, you can slowly move up to a higher percentage.

DON'T? 🙅‍♀️ Do NOT pair with chemical peels, vitamin C, or neglect to apply to your neck or décolletage.

Let me know if you have any questions! 💭

Wedding season isn't quite here yet but here are some tips on what and how to get ready for your big day...

02/05/2022

There are a bajillion skin-care products! 🤯

But the truth is, for your skin-care routine to be effective, it should really be as SIMPLE and CONSISTENT as possible.

1. Cleansers — Remove excess oil, makeup, dirt, dead skin cells, and maintain hydration.

2. Exfoliants — Remove the outer layers of dead skin cells, helping brighten and smooth, even out pigmentation, unclog pores, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

3. Serums — Protect the skin! Helping combat visible signs of aging and calming skin inflammations. They can provide the skin with hydration and increase moisture retention.

4. Moisturizers — Help seal moisture into the skin, which supports the skin barrier to effectively protect and hydrate your skin.

5. Sunscreen — Protects the skin from the sun’s UV rays, which may cause skin cancer and signs of aging.

Sensitive vs sensitized. Because YES there is a major difference between these two common skincare buzzwords. 👀

Sensitive skin: A predisposed condition that can not go away. Sensitive skin can be managed plain and simple.

Sensitive skin is more susceptible to irritation due to a naturally weaker moisture barrier.

Sensitized skin: A condition that can be treated and healed. Once the irritant has been found and eliminated the skin will return to a state of equilibrium.

When it comes to sensitized I strongly recommend working with me to help find the right routine. By DIY'ing your skincare routine when you already have a compromised moisture barrier you are running the risk of using products that might actually make your skin worse. ⚠️

Damaging skincare habits are so 2021. Let's get your skin looking and feeling healthy this year. ✨

Here are the skincare habits I want you to say "no way" to in 2022.

🗑 Popping your pimples with your fingers, a pin, or anything in between. Feel the need to pop? Throw on an acne patch to limit your ability to pop.

🗑 Sleeping with make-up on. This is such NO in my books. Sleeping with your makeup on allows all the product and grime and grit from the day to seep into your pores. This can cause acne as well as premature aging down the line.

🗑 Having an out-of-control sleep schedule. It's time to stop those 3 am TikTok nights. It can be hard I know but your skin will love you for it. Try to turn off your phone an hour before bed this will not only give your eyes a chance to relax after a day of blue light but you can also reduce your desire to scroll into the night if your phone I already off when you get into bed.

🗑 Changing your skincare routine too often! It takes at least 28 days to see results from a new product. For some products, it takes even longer. You want to make sure you are giving your skin enough time to get used to these new products before jumping to the next skincare trend.
