Ok, we all love our Taylor and yes her romance is super cute. BUT can we take a moment to gasp for Blake Lively’s hair! Slay. I haven’t seen curls like this since late 80’s early 90s. More please!

Fear of highlights can be real—for brunettes. I think the stripy look comes to mind for many. She wanted super natural and I have a low maintenance method for the commitment phobes. Easy grow out and soft golden tones to beat the winter blahs. Yay, her daughter approved two thumbs up and we know how brutally honest our teenage girls can be🤣. We can count this highlight session a success.

Teasylights-10.1 and 30 volume.
Wet balayage on those highlighted pieces at the shampoo bowl and 4Nb with 5N Shades EQ to blend the silver strands around the face.

I love when my clients send me selfies because they love their hair. Ok, this wasn’t quite a selfie, it was from a photo shoot. He asked me to cut his hair and leave a lot of texture. Boom 👊🏼
Thank you, T!😜

Foliage highlights ready for summertime. Last time we highlighted her hair was 6 months ago. We wanted to give her cool girl, beachy highlights (because she is) to take her another 6 months. She looks fabulous and I’m digging that new nose ring :)

I love gradient highlighting on brunettes. Can’t tell where the highlights start, but it glows. Easy growout and Gorgeous!

Rarely do you meet someone so talented with equal amount of humility. So many golden nuggets of info, yet so chill. What a great day learning with a fabulous group of hairdressers; those that take our craft seriously and invest in learning to elevate our craft. , this was one of the best cutting classes I’ve attended. The organization and flow as well as your open heart to share your expertise was felt by us all. I’ll see you again for the Advanced class!

Today I went to my first in person color class since the Covid disruption-woot woot!
It was a great class, it was nice to connect with industry folk, learn and laugh. But this is actually not a hair post. This is about what happened after the class was finished…
I parked at the Silver Peso parking lot honestly not even thinking they’d be open at 2:30pm when the class finished. Well, bars are open (I don’t go to bars anymore) and someone was pi**ed that I parked there. He let me know by parking his big ass truck right behind me so I couldn’t get out. (Gulp)
Someone in the parking lot told me to go see the bartender and I better be ready because he wasn’t happy with me. (Double gulp.)
I enter the bar and years of cigarette smoke clinging to the walls fill my senses. And there are plenT of people hanging out and drinking at 2:30. Duh… and I used to be a bartender.
Anyway. I had to tuck my tail between my legs, apologize and ask Mason if he’d move his truck for me. I’m not gonna lie, he did make a little stink in front of all the patrons, but I messed up and I own my mistakes. He honestly let me off pretty easy, I think. He could have smeared me, but he didn’t.
As I was driving away, I hated that I did that. If patrons don’t have a parking spot, they just go home and Mason doesn’t get paid.
So I quickly drove across town to pick up my kids, drove them home, and then grabbed some cash so I could make a peace offering to Mason.
The Silver Peso is a legit dive bar and I am legit not a dive bar girl. I was a fancy nightclub bar girl back in the day. But that’s another story.
Anyway, I parked and then charged back in the bar to find Mason playing pool. (No I didn’t park in their lot)
I slipped him a good chunk of change, gave him a hug and thanked him for not having me towed. He seemed a little shocked, but I hope he was delighted. I hope I redeemed myself. I hope I don’t have to back in there for a loooong time.

Happy Birthday to me!
To celebrate I had to follow through with my cold plunge challenge. Man the Pacific Ocean is damn cold!
But it’s exhilarating and now I see what the buzz is all about. And what a perfect opportunity for a mind reset for the upcoming year. Last night I read a quote by Maya Angelou…If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. I’m finally understanding that resistance is suffering and acceptance is peace. So on that note I begin my 45th journey around the sun. I want to live a life of gratitude for all that I have, without worrying about what I don’t have. Period.

I really miss the days when doing hair was just about that-doing hair and making people feel good about themselves. Now we have to add photographer, lighting specialist, body poser, writer, and cinematographer to the resume as well. Among other things. I don’t stress about how much or how little I post on the gram. I still aim to keep a fabulous and fun experience at the heart of what I do. Here’s a really fun woman who wanted a few face framing highlights after years of not coloring.
She walked away glowing after getting her golden blonde streaks painted. Seeing people happy will always be more important to me than the right insta post.
I’m just old school like that;)

Oligo clay- extra blonde
Redken Shades EQ base melt 5N and 5NW
Glaze- 9GI 9V and clear

I just can’t get over this gorgeous head of hair. It took a couple years to grow out the previous tint, adding ashy highlights and lowlights along the way to ease the transition.
It’s best to have a roadmap when working with your stylist to make a huge change like this.
Here I did a partial lowlight and an anti yellow gloss to keep the overall color looking icy along with a fresh lob haircut to accentuate that money piece.
She’s stunning!
