Do you have a strange spot that keeps catching your attention?

If you have a rough dry patch that never seems to go away and maybe even occasionally bleeds, it could be a pre-cancerous lesion. Another name for a pre-cancer is Actinic Keratosis. What can you do about it? First, get that appointment with the dermatologist set up, that is the safest course of action when there is a question about the potential for anything cancerous. BUT don't freak out, remember it's a PRE-cancer and that means there is time for treatment.

Another option to control the progression of new pre-cancerous lesions is to have regular chemical peels. This can remove the surface layers that are dry and patchy and can be monitored by your dermatologist for any concerning changes.

My go to chemical peel for this job is the Elaine Brennan peel series, either the get glowing peel in a series of 3-6 or a single peel of the Elaine Brennan skin renewal peel.

If you find yourself with a rubbery, tan or brown spot, it could be a seborrheic keratosis. This skin condition is easily treated with the skin sheek machine. This is a simple 15-30 minute treatment and can be scheduled on the website.

While I am not a doctor and cannot diagnose a pre-cancerous lesion, I am a trained professional and I know when something is suspicious. I have sent many clients to see a dermatologist over the years and have been relieved when they return to report they had the lesion treated!

Actinic Keratosis looks and feel like a dry patch of skin that will not go away even when extra moisturizer is used. It can bleed easily if exfoliating with a washcloth or with a scrubbing product. While these are often benign, they can grow in to squamous cell cancer, because of this potential doctors often opt to treat them.
Because I see your skin regularly and usually under magnification, I catch these in the beginning stage and can send you to the dermatologist.

Seborrheic keratosis is a different story all together! This will look like a tan or brown soft bump, they do not itch or feel irritated. Though people often find the texture irritating and scratch them, this will not make them go away. They can crop up in groups and are usually found on the face, neck, décolletage and back. This type of skin irregularity is easily treated by me with the Skin Sheek machine, this treatment can banish them permanently!
