This Saturday June 6th was to be Pride In Focus 2026 hosted by Pott County Health Services. We were so excited about this event, something CB needs and something that hasn’t happened in such a long time! We were even more excited when we got the opportunity to be a vendor for the event!!

Friday it was noticed that some words on the event description had changed and so I got to work on figuring out what was going on, after some classic PI work online I found what had caused the change.

A church in Council Bluffs decided they didn’t like Pott County was willing to host this type of event. Pott County Board of Supervisors listened to what the local church said and has changed all verbiage of the event and it is now Health In Focus 2026, there is actually zero verbiage about the LGBTQ+ community at all.

I went back and forth on how I wanted to handle this with the salon being a vendor. The most frustrating part I think is probably that none of the vendors were contacted about the change, it was almost done in such a sneaky under the radar way. Today I received an email stating that the event had turned into a PRIDE event and it was never meant to be that it was always to focus on health with a focus on lgbtq+, the email stated that our tables can still have pride items. It is an interesting attempt as a cover up.
Through out the weekend I have had such a roller coaster of emotions from anger to sadness to “screw that we will be over the top” strength. I am not sure what would be best for myself or the salon if I am being completely honest so please have grace if you disagree…. WE WILL BE THERE SATURDAY JUNE 6TH 10am-1PM!

I keep going back to how important it is that at minimum one table there shows support for our community, so I decided we will bring the glitter and rainbows still Saturday. *Fingers crossed we aren’t all of the sudden told we can’t do that day of*
