Holy smooookes, yesterday I celebrated 4 years at this location (with tradesies! IYKYK)! I moved here 3 years before that - starting my journey as an independent booth renter for the first time in a new state. Kind of a wild style, honestly. I would do it all over again, I hope we all choose to bet on ourselves.
If there's anything I've learned, the only thing constant is change. Expect the unexpected and never stay comfortable.
Keep that in mind because I'm cookin' up some secrets and I'm excited to taunt you with some hints for the next few months. Don't try to pry it out of me, my lips are sealed!
I'm thinking about Pawtucket today, I just heard the news. This is not normal, if you're feeling a little insane, you're not alone. This is the second newsletter in a row addressing a tragedy, I'm so sorry for the way things are right now, and I'm also gonna try love a little harder everyday.
I wanted to send out a message before leaving on vacation this week. I'll be gone from 2/18 -2/24. Absolutely disconnecting and certainly not checking my schedule. As always; the magic link will be at the bottom of this newsletter so you may book at your leisure (and shop too, if you want!). If you are new to the salon these last couple months, I would love a google review of your experience! That is also accessible from the magic link (:
I had a few cancellations tomorrow - that's your last chance to get in with me before I leave for a week! I have time for 2 root retouches or a couple haircuts. Next availability after tomorrow is Saturday the 28th.
Consider it a treat - you deserve a lil treat.

My word for 2025 was "cultivate".
I have a bad ass brand, respectful & supportive clients, a strange and creative street band, a couple of careers, an endless well of love, a community that is home, boundaries as guardrails, and a belly that laughs often.
Mission accomplished, let's do it again.
This is just the beginning.

It's been a tough week. Our collective heart is broken. Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov and Ella Cook should be here. I can't say anything original that hasn't already been said about the gun violence that shakes up this country, rattling communities. This time; ours.
One of my academic clients today said "Teachers shouldn't have to be soldiers."
I want to extend an offering to all Brown University faculty and students. Initially, I planned on providing free services for the rest of the year. After sitting with that, I realized I don't have the capacity for it just yet. I think the best way we can show up for others is by being honest with ourselves and doing a few things great, rather than many things well.
So, I'd like to remind everyone that silent appointments are available for when you need space. You can come here to share a comfortable silence during your self care, any time.Β π
I love Providence. The way you can move to this city and make new friends within a week, how you can walk over the pedestrian bridge on any given Tuesday during a summer sunset and see a 12 foot tall puppet among a gaggle of musicians playing "Seven nation army" or "somebody to love". The way you can show up to a cool event by yourself - without ever being alone. I love every badass artist making weird and radical art, and that zines are alive and well, scattered in coffee shops and q***r spaces. How we're all connected by 1Β° of separation, driving 15 minutes is too far for native rhodies, and "where Benny's used to be" is the ongoing joke. How there's a community for any niche interest you have.
I love that alternative is the standard here.
Above all else; I love how we show up for each other.
The Better Lives food drive is still active through the end of the year! Every item donated qualifies 1 entry, I will be choosing a raffle winner on New Year's eve. I want to thank everyone who has participated so far, you've made a real difference, like you always do β‘.
Have a gentle holiday, and a sweet New Year.
I'll have some exciting news for you in 2026Β β¨οΈ
Stay Gold and shop local.
With love,

I already feel so much better making the call to not accept any more weddings this year. I'm excited to protect my love of styling for years to come with this pause.
Burnout caught up to me HARD last week, so I knew it was time to make a change - and I felt it coming for a while.
American hustle culture is truly nothing to glorify. Being a cog in the wheel of a machine that's detrimental to our wellbeing is praised as a "strong work ethic". I've been hearing it from my clients lately, too.
It's not normal, guys.
Preventing burnout is a pivoting practice; we fail, we listen, we meet the threshold, cozy upto it - and hopefully learn to prioritize ourselves in the LIFE / work balance.
In lieu of designing the life I want;
I'm proud to increase my bridal rate to $150/hr as of 2026 & I'm not accepting any new bridal bookings for 2025.
In the words of a brilliant woman who doesn't need to explain herself;
"Thank you for considering me, I'm going to have to decline. My plate is as full as I like."
Here's your reminder you have permission to do the same. π€
