I’ve spent the last few days reading through every single nomination, and I just want to say… this community is really something special.

The love, appreciation, and kindness in these stories truly meant a lot to me. It made choosing just one person incredibly difficult.

One story that really stayed with me was about someone who has spent a lifetime showing up for others—raising a family, supporting her community, giving her time and energy in so many ways, and continuing to do so even now.

So with a full heart, I’m so happy to share that this year’s recipient is Charlene Higgins.

Charlene, you have clearly made a lasting impact on so many people around you, and it would be an honor to have you in for a time of rest, care, and being taken care of for a change.

And truly, there were so many deserving nominations. I was especially moved by the story shared about Teresa Hass Gallegos and the care she gives to others in our community. I would also love to extend a special service to you as well.

To everyone who took the time to nominate someone or share a story—thank you. It was a beautiful reminder of how much care exists here in Creswell.
