It's all in the details when it comes to an extension appointment. Before you even walk through the door, I've already set up my tray. My needles are threaded, my bead looper is loaded, and everything I need is within reach.

I don't want you sitting in my chair while I'm stopping to prep supplies. I'd rather spend that time actually working on your hair.

Those little things may seem insignificant, but they create a smoother appointment, keep me organized, and let me focus on giving you comfortable, beautiful extensions.

It's the behind the scenes details that make a big difference in your experience. 🖤

Has anyone else noticed that natural red hair changes as we get older?

One thing people don't really talk about is how many natural redheads begin to "brown out" over time. The bright copper, golden tones, or auburn hue we had when we were younger slowly become softer and more muted.

The good news is you don't have to color your roots every month to bring that warmth back.

For my low-maintenance redheads, I love strategically adding caramel highlights for brightness and then weaving in rich copper or auburn lowlights to recreate the depth natural red hair used to have. Because we're working with your natural color instead of covering it, the grow-out is much more forgiving.

A little toner can make a huge difference too. I personally love a soft rosy toner to give my highlights a subtle rosy glow, but if my hair starts looking too copper, I'll reach for a red-violet toner to balance everything out.

We all know red fades faster than other hair colors, and there's actually a reason for that. Red color molecules are larger than other color molecules, making them harder to get into the hair and easier to lose over time.

That's why I don't just think about how your color will look today. I think about how it's going to look six weeks from now, ten weeks from now, and so on.

For my clients who come in about 3 to 4 times a year, I intentionally create a beautiful color underneath the red so that as it softens, it transitions into another gorgeous look instead of feeling faded.

If you love that rich, vibrant red and want to keep it looking fresh, I recommend coming in every 6 to 8 weeks for a refresh. 🖤

Please excuse the mannequin..... she's been through a lot. 🤣

Turn your volume up to hear me explain the why and how behind the foundation I create for a weft installation.

Your row might look a little more grown out than what you see in those perfectly aesthetic extension pictures online, but it's intentional.

I want the hair to stay in its natural fall so the extensions aren't pulling at the scalp or creating unnecessary tension. Because a pretty picture isn't worth a painful scalp or hair loss.

And honestly, you're not going to be wearing your hair up so that everyone can see your weft tops anyway. The whole point is for your extensions to be concealed.

If you've had extensions before that were painful, uncomfortable, or caused hair loss, I would love to show you how comfortable extensions can actually be when they are installed with your natural hair and scalp health in mind.

The goal is for your hair to grow and thrive while you're wearing extensions. That's the whole point.

My last post about her first color correction session was so popular, so I wanted to show you where we are now.

Four weeks ago, we started the process of safely removing blue black box dye from her hair. That first session took 8.5 hours.

Yesterday was our second session, and this time we were working through the warmth that naturally appears when lifting dark artificial color.

And this is the part of corrective color that can feel scary. If your goal is to go lighter, you have to be willing to see warmth during the process. If we constantly tone everything down every time warmth appears, we can actually feel like we're not making progress.

You have to trust the stylist you choose for this type of work because the process does not always look pretty in the middle.

I am honestly in awe of how light we were able to get her during this session while still keeping her hair long and healthy through multiple rounds of lightening.

This session took 5.5 hours, and we are continuing to make progress toward her goal.

One of my favorite things a client can say is, "I trust you, do whatever you want."

Before I make any decisions, I'm thinking about your lifestyle, your maintenance routine, your personality, your hair history, and even the conversations we've had at previous appointments. I want to know what you love, what you never want to see on your head, and what will make you feel the most confident when you leave.

Your trust means everything to me, and it's something I'll never take for granted.

I promise you, when you work with the warmth instead of constantly trying to fight it, your color looks so much more intentional.

Not only does it create more shine and depth, but the fade between appointments is softer and so much prettier. That's why I spend so much time creating colors that will still look beautiful weeks after you leave the salon.

Save this curling tutorial for the next time you style your hair!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. I'm always happy to help.

If your hair still isn't holding a curl after trying all these tips, the problem may not be your technique. Hair that has been exposed to excessive heat over time can lose its ability to hold a style as well.

A good heat protectant and styling products will be your best friend, and one of the biggest tips I can give you is to let your curls cool completely before brushing them out. That cooling period is what helps lock in the shape and gives your style much better staying power.

Getting away from red can be a journey, but with a little patience, it can be amazing.

Red doesn't simply disappear overnight. As we transition to a brunette there will often be warmth that peeks through along the way.

Instead of fighting every bit of it, I like to use it to our advantage.

A touch of warmth adds shine, creates depth, and gives the hair a richer, more dimensional look. The goal isn't to erase your hair's history in one appointment. It's to create a color that looks beautiful at every stage of the journey while keeping your hair healthy.

My client had a professional color analysis done, and it confirmed something we had suspected...she's one of the few people who truly shines in cool, smoky hair colors.

For her, warm caramel, or golden tones would actually compete with her natural coloring. Instead, we create a deep brunette with cool ash undertones that enhances her complexion.
