October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🩷

And as a business built around helping women feel good in their skin, this month means a little more to us than simply wearing pink.

Being part of the sunless industry means we talk a lot about protecting your skin , but sometimes I think we forget just how important that conversation really is.

UV radiation from both the sun and tanning beds can damage the DNA in our skin cells. Sunburns aren’t just burns, and a tan from a UV bed isn’t just color. That damage adds up over time and can increase the risk of skin cancer, including melanoma.

You can love being tan and love your skin enough to protect it. 🤎

But this month, I also want to talk about something beyond sunless tanning.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of spray tanning women who have had mastectomies, including double mastectomies. I’ve seen scars, reconstructed breasts, changed bodies and bodies that have fought incredibly hard.

And I want every woman who walks through our doors to know this:

You never need to apologize for your body here.

You don’t need to warn us about your scars.
You don’t need to explain what’s different.
You don’t need to cover anything you’re uncomfortable with us seeing.
And you certainly don’t need to feel embarrassed.

Cancer, surgery, pregnancy, weight changes, stretch marks, scars, medical devices, whatever your body has been through, your body is welcome here.

GlowXO will always be a space where you can walk in exactly as you are and know that your body will be treated with kindness, respect and absolutely zero judgment.

So this October, we’re wearing the pink. We’re reminding you to check your breasts, schedule the appointments you’ve been putting off, protect your skin, wear your SPF, skip the UV beds, and choose sunless when you want that glow.

But most importantly, we’re celebrating the women whose bodies tell stories of strength, survival and everything they’ve overcome.

Your body deserves to be cared for at every stage of its story. 🩷

A custom spray tan should be chosen based on you — your natural skin depth, undertone, desired result, upcoming event, and even your previous tanning experiences.

Going deeper and deeper with DHA doesn’t automatically mean your tan will look richer or more beautiful. When we push past what your skin can realistically develop, we can sacrifice the natural-looking result we’re actually trying to create.

That’s why at Glow XO, we don’t believe in grabbing the same solution for every client and calling it a day. We’re looking at your skin, listening to what you want, and choosing a depth + undertone that makes sense for you.
