I had an old customer find me today. He went to the Buford mall barbershop I worked at for 5 months before she let me go after being sick and in the hospital for over two weeks. The first time she told him that I wasn’t able to work anymore, then the next time she told him that I had died!! He said he looked for my obituary and couldn’t find anything. Then he thought maybe I wasn’t dead! He kept searching and found out where I’m working at now. Goettee’s barbershop.

I wanted to share this news with everyone. My father Cecil Holtzclaw passed away Friday July 07 2023. Dad has been cutting hair in Buford since the late sixties. He was very well known in and around Buford. I remember being a little kid and hanging out in his barbershop just off Main Street in 1970. Whenever he’s worked in another town he would open a shop in the house or build a building next to the house so he could cut his Buford customers hair. Over the years I’ve had customers tell me they remember him putting a barber chair in the back of his truck and go to their house to cut their hair. A lot of people thought he was a great barber. He had quite a following at one time.

It’s been over 25 years that I came back to Buford to cut hair and I bought half his shop then later bought him out. We worked together for many, many years. I will always cherish those memories!

He liked to move around a lot. People teased him about it for years. I hope he will be remembered as a good person and a great Barber!

The Barbershop will be open for business on Monday May 4th at 9 am, instead of my normal opening time of 8:30. There will be some changes for the immediate future.

All Barbershops are required to follow from the Federal government OSHA Guidelines for reopening businesses. As well as, the state of Georgia and the Georgia State Board of Barber and Cosmetologists 28 safety guidelines.

The items below are required or suggested as to not spread the Covid-19 virus.

There can be people that are asymptomatic that can have and spread the virus.

All customers have to have their temperature checked.

All customers have to be asked a series of four questions.

In order to maintain social distancing, I can only have 2 customers in the shop at a time, because of its size. I can only have 1 person in the chair and 1 in the waiting area at a time. The only exception is if everyone is in the same immediate family.

All customers and myself are required to wear a mask, If you do not have one, I will provide you with one.

There’s Kleenex and hand sanitizer at the front counter for your use.

After each customer I am required to sanitize all surfaces before the next customer.

I am required to wear a smock and change it after each customer. I’m also required to change each chair cloth / cape after each customer.

Unfortunately, these requirements are going to take extra time. I ask you to please be patient until everything can get back to normal.

I want to thank all of my customers for waiting for me to return.

I also ask anyone that is sick or is just getting over being sick to please wait until you are well to come in.
