So… I made my own

I saw a new “clean” beauty product at Whole Foods the other day and honestly… I was excited to check it out.

The branding was beautiful. The messaging sounded amazing. Organic, natural, clean… all the buzzwords consumers are looking for right now.

Then I flipped it over.

And the very first thing that stood out to me was the word fragrance.

As someone who formulates products for a living, this is honestly one of the most frustrating things to still see in the “clean” beauty space.

And before anyone twists this — no, I’m not saying all fragrance is automatically bad.

There are actually some brands beginning to use cleaner fragrance blends with full ingredient transparency where consumers can scan and look up every ingredient being used.

But the issue is that the single word “fragrance” can legally hide hundreds — sometimes thousands — of undisclosed ingredients that companies do not have to tell you about.

That matters.

Especially for people struggling with sensitivities, headaches, scalp irritation, allergies, hormone concerns, or unexplained reactions.

So when I see products marketed as “organic,” “natural,” and “clean” while still hiding behind undisclosed fragrance blends… yeah, it raises questions for me.

Consumers deserve transparency.

Not just pretty packaging and marketing buzzwords.
