Did you know that the building we are located in is roughly 100 years old? It has seen many changes over the decades, like this film from 1955! Thank you for this trip back in time!
Came across amazing footage of the intersection of Abrams and Belmont from 1955. Shown in the footage are Lakewood area businesses that occupied the 2300 block of Abrams, which included the Belmont Service Station, Victor’s Lawns & Gardens, White Swan Cleaners, Lakewood Beauty Shop, and Robinson’s Variety & Hardware. The historic shopping center is now home to the Willie & Coote Salon () and Dallas Affaires Cake Company ().
Special shoutout to Teresa Musgrove Judd, whose new book “Lakewood 1925-1985: A History of the Shopping Center” provides incredible details about the history of businesses in the Lakewood neighborhood of East Dallas.
