Office hours*: 7:30–12:30 on Tuesdays.
*: “Office hours”: apparently every other available pocket of time, too. 😂
Running a salon means there's an entire job happening when I'm not actually doing hair- emails, scheduling, inventory, finances, education, marketing, planning, and approximately 47 tabs open at ANY given moment.
Tuesday mornings are the time I've intentionally carved out to handle as much of that as possible. Scheduled time IN the office, not in the salon. I get distracted easily when I'm not at the desk.
And does it all stay neatly inside those five hours?
Absolutely not. 😂 The backend of a business has a funny way of never actually being done.
But having dedicated time for it matters to me.
Because when I walk into the studio and someone is sitting in my chair, I don't want to be half stylist, half business owner.
I want my attention there.
On the person. On the hair. On the experience.
So yes, the desk days can get a little messy.
That's kind of the point. 🙏🏻

I want your hair to meet you where you are- not where you've been, and not where someone thinks you should be.
Because the version of you sitting in my chair today may want something completely different than the version of you from five years ago. Heck, it may be different than last season!
Our lives change. Our priorities change. Our bodies change. What makes us feel confident changes. Even how much time and energy we want to give our hair can change.
And I personally don't believe ANY of that comes with rules.
Maybe right now you want easier. Maybe you want bolder. Maybe you're ready to embrace something you've spent years fighting- or you're simply ready to see yourself a little differently.
Great hair, to me, isn't about holding onto who you've always been.
It's about looking in the mirror and recognizing who you are RIGHT NOW.

Yes, I brought a giant head of one of my clients to meet Miss USA. 😂👑
With and passing the crown to their successor tonight, it felt like the perfect time to pull this one back out.
I knew how much my client LOVES pageants, so naturally, when the opportunity came up for me to be a selection committee member for Miss NE USA and I had a feeling she would be there, she NEEDED to come along.
Apparently that meant traveling with a giant cutout of her head. TOTALLY normal behavior.🤣
I managed to get Audrey in on it, snapped the photo, and later had it framed as a surprise for her.
And honestly, THIS is one of my favorite parts of what I do.
Over time, you learn a whole lot more about the people in your chair than how they like their hair. You learn what they love, what makes them laugh, what they're excited about- and sometimes you get the chance to make a memory out of it.
Even if that means carrying their giant head around a pageant. 😂 And around Omaha Airport (Martha is now infamous at security, and everyone met her on the return flight home 🤣🤣🤣)
Congratulations to Miss USA and Miss Teen USA as they close out this chapter tonight, and to the women about to begin theirs. 👑👑
You spend enough of your day thinking about what everyone else needs. ✨

♻️ Small choices. Big impact.
One of the things I love most about being a member of  is knowing that the beauty industry doesn’t have to create unnecessary waste.
Since February 2026, Honey & Ginger guests have helped keep 62 pounds❗️ of beauty waste out of landfills through our salon recycling and recovery program. Hair clippings, color waste, plastics, metals, paper products, single-use items, and even retired hot tools are collected and diverted through specialized recovery streams instead of ending up in the trash.

This is one of those salon secrets most guests never hear about...
Most people think patterned and colored foils are just for fun.
And while seasonal foils definitely make the salon experience a little more festive, they can actually serve a much bigger purpose behind the chair.
They're helping me keep track of what's going where! Because accidentally adding three extra lowlights to a blonde is a LOT harder to explain after the foils come out. 😂
When I'm creating dimensional color, I am working with multiple formulas throughout the same head of hair. Using different foil colors/patterns helps me visually map where each formula is being placed, making it easier to maintain balance, track placement, and avoid accidentally repeating or skipping a color.
Think of it like color-coding a roadmap. One pattern might represent a lowlight, while another represents a highlight or a different tonal family. It helps ensure the final result is balanced, intentional, and customized from root to end.
And as an added bonus? They make for much better salon selfies than plain silver foils!!!

The secret ingredient in strawberry blonde isn't copper, gold, or blonde...💗
A touch of pink mixed into a gold/copper gloss can completely transform a strawberry blonde!!!
It helps soften the copper, enhance luminosity, and create that delicate "sunset" effect without looking overly orange or overly red.
My general rule: no more than 1/3 of the gloss formula as pink, balanced with gold and copper tones.

🚨PRO TIP: If your goal is low-maintenance hair color, start by choosing a color that works WITH your natural hair rather than against it.
One of the easiest ways to reduce salon visits is to stay within 1 to 2 levels of your natural color and avoid creating a harsh line of color directly at the scalp. Soft dimension, blended placement, and a more natural grow-out pattern allow your color to age gracefully between reservations.
This strawberry blonde is a great example. As it grows, there isn't a dramatic line of demarcation, which means the color continues to look intentional for much longer.
What does maintenance typically look like?
Most guests can go anywhere from 10 to 16 weeks between major color reservations. Depending on your hair goals, it may take a few visits to create that seamless, blended result. Some guests also choose to reserve a gloss, toner, or haircut appointment between color visits to keep the tone bright and the ends looking fresh without committing to a full color service.
