Could I have glued it? Yep.
Did I? Nope. 😂
I used protective layers for the quick weave and SEWED her ponytail in to help protect her natural length and reduce unnecessary breakage.
The style has to come down eventually. Your HAIR still needs to be there. 💅🏽
She’s relaxed, but that doesn’t mean we need to keep cooking the hair. 😂
A quality blowout, conditioning and bonding treatment gave me straight, shiny hair WITHOUT unnecessary flat ironing.
Baby, we’re trying to keep the hair on your head. 💅🏽
Everything does NOT need 400 degrees to be cute. 😂
I wanted bounce, body and curls that would still look good as they fall, so I rod set her sew in and only added warm curls where needed.
Less unnecessary heat. More movement. Still CUTE. 💅🏽
Baby, I don’t have a “usual” braid pattern. 😂
I braid according to YOUR hair. Your density, growth pattern, edges and areas that need less tension.
I’m not sacrificing your hairline just to get an install one millimeter flatter. 💅🏽
Healthy foundation FIRST. Cute install right behind it.
Girl. If your relaxer appointment is coming up, GET YOUR HAND OUT YOUR HEAD. 😂
No scratching.
No picking.
No digging with the comb.
Before I put a chemical anywhere near your scalp, I’m concerned about the condition of that scalp.
If I see irritation, sores or a compromised scalp, we’re having a different conversation because healthy relaxed hair starts before I ever apply the relaxer.
And that’s the difference between simply providing a chemical service and actually caring for relaxed hair.
My relaxed girls, did anybody ever teach you this before your first relaxer? 👀
Baby, why are we flat ironing hair that is ALREADY straight every morning?! 😭😂
This is one of the biggest things I teach my relaxed girls.
Your retouch is not a permission slip to put heat on your hair every day.
A good professional blowout, proper moisture, wrapping your hair and protecting it at night can help you maintain that look without constantly reaching for the flat iron.
We’re trying to retain thickness AND length.
We want movement, body and healthy relaxed hair. Not fried and laid. 😂
Somebody might get mad at me for this one, but I said what I said. 😂
Natural does not automatically mean healthy.
Relaxed does not automatically mean damaged.
And a sew in, wig, crochet or braid isn’t automatically “protective” just because we call it a protective style.
The real question is: How are you caring for the hair underneath?
I’m not here to convince every woman to wear her hair the same way. Girl, wear the bob. Wear the 30 inches. Get the relaxer. Rock your curls. Put that wig ON. 😂
I just want the hair underneath to still be healthy when we take it off.
The girls that prioritize healthy hair… get it. 💕
Tape ins OUT, relaxer refreshed, ends trimmed, healthy hair still IN. 😍👏🏽
This is the part of extensions people don’t talk about enough. The takedown matters just as much as the install.
We carefully removed her tape ins with the goal of protecting her natural hair and preserving her length. Then we moved into her relaxer retouch, focusing on the new growth, followed by a healthy trim to clean up those ends and keep her length looking full.
✨ Gentle tape in removal
✨ Hair and scalp assessment
✨ Relaxer retouch on new growth
✨ Conditioning and strengthening treatment
✨ Healthy trim
✨ Length retention and healthy hair maintenance
And THIS is what I want to see when those extensions come out. 👀😍
From Natalie’s Chair: Extensions should enhance your look, not leave you scared to see your natural hair when they come down. And baby, holding onto damaged ends just to say your hair is long? We don’t do that either. 😂✂️
Tape ins today, relaxed hair tomorrow. Either way, the hair underneath is always the priority.
The girls that prioritize healthy hair… get it. 💅🏽💕
I know you paid good money for them braids, sis. But eventually they gotta GO. 😂
Protective does not mean permanent.
Your scalp still needs cleansing. Your natural hair still needs moisture. And when buildup, tangling and dryness start moving in, baby, that style is no longer doing what we hired her to do. 😭
Take the style down. Treat the hair. Let that scalp breathe. Then we can be cute again.
Be honest. What’s the LONGEST you’ve ever kept a protective style? 👀😂
