Do you want Real Chemical Peel Results? … I love chemical peels and what they can do for our beautiful skin. However, if not done correctly can cause some serious damage. The key to success is to “Skin Prep”. I wanted to share 5 tips for chemical peel skin prep:
1. Work with a Skincare Professional (that works with chemical peels)- NOT ALL Estheticians are alike… so do your due diligence, research, ask for referrals, and start with consultations. A thorough analysis of your skin is crucial in this step will lead you down the right path for your skin type, and start you on a Home care system specifically for your skin!
2. Protect your Skin- staying out of the sun, wearing sunscreen daily at least SPF 30 with UVA/UVB protection. Wear hats , sunglasses, stay in shaded areas. This step will help to prevent further damage to your skin from the sun as well as help your skin be as healthy as it can be for a chemical peel.
3. Don’t forget your Enzyme peels- these are great warmups for your skin… enzymes provide a gentle exfoliating process to dissolve the dead skin cells. Also, aids as a guide for your provider to determine the readiness of skin for a chemical peel.
4. Retinols- I absolutely love retinols because their main job is exfoliating & getting rid of dead skin cells. Retinols are a naturally occurring form of Vitamin A that targets cell turnover and aids in exfoliation, which is a major step in skin prep.
5. Try Dermaplaning- a sterile, surgical scalpel is used to remove dead skin cell, dirt, oil buildup, and vellus hair (aka peach fuzz) off the top layer of skin. Leaving you with skin that is fresh and ready to absorb all the good stuff that can aide in skincare and healthy aging.
