Natural deo designed by a momma of 3, in Dana Point,CA. Bringing natures best+essential oils, nontox THAT'S IT!!!! And, some, may not experience nothing at all!!!
Most deodorants have many toxic and harmful ingredients including parabens, phthalates, aluminums, and more!!! With this knowledge, I decided to create my own almost 4 years ago!!! With a few trial and errors and some minor adjustments I have created, what I think, is the perfect not-toxic all natural deodorant (with vegan options) in 3 different strengths. We have regular strength which will suit
most people, sensitive, for all the folks with sensitive skin, and extra strength for the people who need a little extra odor control. All of our deodorant pastes are made with the same ingredients (amounts vary depending on the strength). The ingredients are: all natural beeswax (deodorant stick only), organic coconut oil, raw shea butter, all natural non-aluminum baking soda, arrowroot starch, bentonite clay, and essential oils. Here is just a few reasons why each ingredient is important in the overall product.
- Beeswax (in our deodorant stick only) is used in order to make the deodorant more firm, making it ideal to use as a deodorant stick rather than using it as a paste. Beeswax also has other benefits to the skin: it is a good source of vitamin A, forms a protective barrier on the skin, keeps skin hydrated, and is anti-allergenic, which is great for people with sensitive skin!
- Organic coconut oil is well known for its many health benefits both externally and internally. But in deodorant, its main use is of its ability to fight bad odor due to its anti-baterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties. The fatty acids found in coconut oil help reduce inflammation and moisturize ideal for all skin types.
- Raw shea butter is naturally rich in vitamins A, E, and essential fatty acids. This makes it a incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for the skin and helps protect the skin's natural oils.
- Pure baking soda is used for its ability to fight bad odor due to its antibacterial properties as well as absorbing moisture and sweat from the skin.
- Arrowroot starch is very absorbent which allows for some natural moisture control.
- Bentonite clay is used for its detoxification properties by binding to bacteria and toxins on the surface of the skin and within the pores to extract them. This is especially when making the switch from commercial deodorants where many toxic chemicals and heavy metals are used.
- Essential oils are used as aromatherapy and well as for their very powerful properties. Each scent is represented by a different colored frog with the essential oils used. We have 3 different scents:
- Tea tree/Lavender
- Lemongrass/Lime
- Cypress/Juniper Berry/patchouli
Armpit detoxification:
Because we are all unique individuals, we will all experience the switch from conventional deodorant to a natural one differently. When making the switch, many may experience excessive sweating/odor, or have issues with rashes and tenderness (not to be confused with sensitivity to baking soda). You are the lucky ones. For the not so lucky... this is ok, and normal!!! This is your body's way of riding itself of chemicals after years of conventional deodorant use. Wellness Mama has a great article on "How to Detox Your Armpits", with a armpit detox recipe included, allowing for a more speedy/efficient transition (http://wellnessmama.com/25432/detox-your-armpits/). Allow your body 3-4 weeks before quitting. Other suggestions to ease the transition include:
- Placing something soothing/healing on clean armpits before applying the deodorant and before going to bed (i.e. coconut oil, aloe vera, etc.).
- Avoid applying deodorant right after shaving/waxing. If you must, make sure u a "barrier", like coconut oil, before applying deodorant.
- Not using any deodorant when you can, is a great way to give your body an opportunity to detox prior to making the switch to a natural deodorant. I understand this is nearly impossible to do, but do your best. :-)
- And like with any detoxification process... drink lots of water!!!
