The time has come to rehome sweet Maple! His progress is looking great and while he is almost completely healed, he doesn't need to return to his life outside. He currently still has a neck wrap on that needs changed every 3/4 days but can stop wearing it once he is healed. He needs to be an only cat OR can live happily with another FIV positive cat. 🤍

It's giving Cosmo and Wanda 🩷🪄💚

We are hoping this will stop Mr. Maple from opening up new wounds!

🍁 MR. MAPLE UPDATE

The vets are overall happy with his healing! We are having some issues with him continuing to scratch his bandage and while he isn't able to reach his wounds, he is making new ones.

We humbly admit that we need help and aren't able to provide the aroind-the-clock care he needs during this time (especially me having a 4 month old and 2 year old). For the time being, we are asking for a foster. This will only be needed until he is able to continue his duties as the greeter outside of the salon. This entails feeding, watering, ensuring he isn't making new wounds, and taking him to his vet appointments. All appointments will be paid for by us.

Please do not offer if you have another kitty. He needs to be the only one due to his FIV diagnosis- I don't want another baby to have to go through this.

Sweet Maple had a vet appointment today, and the vets are happy with his healing! 🥳

Not going to lie- I was preparing for the worse case scenario due to him not healing as quickly as I expected. I'm sure this is due to the FIV, but I still wasn't sure what all this diagnosis entailed. For the next little bit, he is still in kitty confinement with a cone to hopefully avoid scratching his wound anymore. 😅 He seems much more happy overall and is begging for some attention from everyone.

Staphanie took Maple this morning, and while we were hopeful, he isn't healing well.
His FIV has made it hard for his body to fight off infections and he now has 4 open wounds despite staying inside. We are trying a round of antibiotics with the plan to bring him back on Thursday to reasses.
At this point, we are just trying to decide what will be best for him and his quality of life. 😔

LONG overdue post on Mr. Maple 🍁

Mr. Maple had surgery to repair his neck wound and be neutered last Saturday. While the surgery went well, we found out that he did indeed have FIV, which is common in stray cats. This can lead to longer recovery and increased risk of infections. While he has been inside recovering, his wounds are not recovering well and we are taking him back to the vet Monday to hopefully clean him up again and treat him incase there is an infection. The site that looks rough is of course where he was neutered and I know it's hard on him.

Please keep praying he heals well after this next vet appointment and can return to his normal greeting job at the salon. 🤍

If you've been to the salon in the past few months, you've met our salon kitty, Maple. 🍁
While we weren't looking for a cat, Maple showed up and decided to stick around for the free food and pets! She has quickly become a member of our salon family at Honey & Glow.
Unfortunately, something has been getting ahold of her and this past event has done significant damage. She needs vet care immediately. This wasn't an expense any of us prepared for considering she just showed up as a stray, but we don't want her to suffer.

We are humbly asking for help to ensure she gets the care she needs. Please, if you feel led, we need help covering the vet bills. She is going today at 3:15 to understand what steps are necessary to see her healthy. We do not know what this entails, but I will keep everyone updated when I know more.
