DYSPORT VS. BOTOX

Both BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport are prescription botulinum toxin type A treatments. When injected into selected facial muscles, they temporarily reduce the muscle activity responsible for expression lines. Unlike dermal fillers, they do not add volume beneath the skin. 💉

BOTOX Cosmetic contains onabotulinumtoxinA. In FDA labeling, it is approved to temporarily improve moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, crow’s feet, forehead lines, and platysma bands in adults.

Dysport contains abobotulinumtoxinA. Its FDA-approved cosmetic indication is the temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows in adults under age 65.

BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport have different formulations and their own product-specific dosing systems. Their units cannot be directly compared or converted, so the number of units alone does not show that one treatment is stronger or better than the other.
