Your MRI found a rotator cuff tear.
Great.
So did this study…in a whole bunch of people who had absolutely no shoulder pain.
Researchers reviewed 53 studies looking at asymptomatic shoulders and found rotator cuff abnormalities such as tears, both full and partial, calcifications and tendonopathy everywhere!
Some studies found abnormalities in nearly every shoulder they looked at.
And yet those people weren’t seeking treatment or complaining of pain.
In fact many didn’t even know the findings existed.
This is why we have to stop treating imaging reports like sentences.
Imaging can tell us what’s there.
It can’t tell us what’s hurting.
As therapists, our job isn’t to chase every wrinkle, tear, or degeneration that shows up on an MRI.
Our job is to find what actually reproduces the patient’s symptoms, changes their function, and responds to treatment.
The image is part of the story.
The patient is the story.
Respect tissue.
Don’t worship imaging.
Just kidding!
Didn’t shave your legs… who cares.
Didn’t wash your hair… good I’m going to mess it up anyways.
Can’t take off your jewelry…. Ok, I’ll work around it.
Coffee Breath…. There are mints for that sort of thing. Don’t worry about it.
Are your feet clean…. Well this one I kind of care about, but only if they are full of sand, tar or haven’t been washed in a week. However, I have gloves, sanitizer and hot towels to make sure we are both comfortable.
No, I’m not writing in your chart… doesn’t wash hair. Or doesn’t shave legs.
You are a beautiful human just the way you are. All I ask is you shower before your treatment.
See you on the table soon!

Yes, Rapid can be uncomfortable but there is a purpose for it. When I find a tender spot during the treatment that tells me that could be contributing to the problem you came in with. Rapid is not about digging in or damaging tissue. It doesn’t mean more pain is better.
It’s about giving your body the right input to create measurable change.
Can you move better? Does the area feel less painful? Has your range of motion improved? Can you do the thing that was bothering you when you came in?
That is the important part to remember about Rapid treatments.
Trust the process!
Just a little reminder. Happy Monday!

As someone who offers Post Op Lymphatic Drainage this news article is horrible.
I can’t imagine what these people are going through. Let this be a reminder to make sure you research your Post Operative care before committing to surgery.
I don’t know all the circumstances behind this situation, but what I do know is stuff like this needs to stop.
Miami-Dade shuts down alleged illegal post-op recovery home, leaving patients searching for care Several cosmetic surgery patients were forced out of a Miami-Dade home Tuesday after authorities shut down what investigators say was an unlicensed assisted living facility providing post-operative care.
Exfoliation is important to remove those dead skin cells. No one wants that type of skin rolling on the massage table. While it is a little gross to think about and feel, no judgement of course. I would never make a client feel uncomfortable about their body. My table@is a safe space for all bodies.
Good news is I offer back scrubs and foot scrubs as an add on to any massage.
Skin shedding is a normal thing, but you can help it along by exfoliating regularly.
My schedule fills up quickly as you all@know. Just in case you didn’t know, I do have a waitlist option. Follow along to learn how you can add yourself to it.
Of course you may call or text but online booking is the quickest way to get an appointment. See you on the table soon.
