COVID-19 Precautions and Guidelines

My #1 priority is to keep you, my clients, and myself as safe as possible during this unprecedented time. As soon as I know First Cut’s reopening date, I will be reaching out to you to reschedule your missed appointments. In the meanwhile, I'd like to share the precautions that I feel are necessary to reopen and operate the salon safely.

First and foremost, I kindly ask that in the event that you do not feel well, show any Covid-19 symptoms, have been in recent contact with someone who tested positive or is showing Covid-19 symptoms or have recently traveled on an airplane, please reschedule your appointment. (+14 days minimum)

For everyone’s safety, I will be implementing the following:

• TEMPERATURE AND HEALTH SCREEN: I will be taking your temperature [no touch] at the door of the salon and asking a few health-screening questions.
• LIMITED NUMBERS: I will be limiting the amount of people in the salon at one time. To do so, I ask that all guests remain outside, on a bench or in your car, until the previous client has exited. I will motion for you to enter. Only clients with scheduled appointments will be allowed inside. Please do not bring friends or kids unless they also have an appointment.
• MASKS: I will only be servicing clients with masks on. Ideally, a mask that secures around the ear would be best. I will have a limited quantity of disposable masks for those clients receiving color treatments. Please plan to utilize your own mask whenever possible. I will wear a mask while shampoo/rinsing and I will wear a plastic face shield while cutting, coloring and styling.
• ‘QUIET TIME’: While I know there will be much to discuss and catch up on, please understand that during your shampoo, I will be keeping conversations to a minimum as you, the client and my positioning above you is slightly more vulnerable than at other times during your visit. Once you are vertical again, let the chatting resume! If and when possible, I ask that you wash your hair before your appointment to reduce time spent in vulnerable face-to-face positioning. I will, of course shampoo any chemical services.
• NO GREY FABRIC CAPES: Each client will be provided a disposable plastic cape to protect your clothing.
• NO SMOCKS: I will not be offering cloth smocks for you to change into under your cape. Please do not wear your Sunday best and please refrain from wearing any bulky tops (hoodie or turtle necks). Please consider not bringing your jacket or purse and stick with only a wallet.
• NO REFRESHMENTS: I will not be offering any refreshments. If you bring any with you, please take it when you leave.
• NO DOUBLE BOOKING: Temporarily, I am suspending double-booked color appointments. Please be patient and know that I will continue do my best to accommodate you as soon as possible.
• SANITIZING: Chairs, sink bowls, pay counter and workstations will be sanitized between each client. Door handles and frequently touched surfaces will be disinfected throughout the day. The salon restroom will be sanitized each evening.
• All magazines, pillows, toys and suckers are temporarily unavailable.
• If writing a check, please bring your own pen.

Lastly, I am reserving the right to refuse service if you choose not to comply with these precautions or do not pass the temperature/health screen. I understand that we may have differing opinions; however, I ask that you to respect my efforts to keep us safe during this health crisis. When I do eventually reopen, I may add some additional guidelines and loosen up on others. This is based on government and industry recommendations. I look forward to seeing you all very soon!!
