This sweet boy used to cry so hard during haircuts it would make it him physically sick.
That’s when his parents sought out something different, and they found me!
With some simple adaptations in his appointments, he not only arrives so excited to come, but leaves with a big smile on his face!
It just takes some compassion and desire to understand.

3 years ago I made a career pivot and decided to get my cosmetology license so that I could help the kids I worked with everyday as an RBT.
I couldn’t have possibly known that I’d soon find myself in the same room with some of the most influential and inspiring women I’ve ever met.
We have a mission: to provide and create safe and inclusive spaces for all, and that’s what we’re doing.

A parent sent me this picture and it made me so happy!
I cut with so much joy because I deeply care about what I do and I can see it through this frozen moment in time.
This sweet boy has grown so much and what’s captured in this moment is the pride of notable growth!
It also demonstrates why I stretch every day! 😆

Her parents haven’t been able to give her a haircut in almost a year because she really doesn’t like her head and hair being touched. It took almost 30 minutes just to get her hair combed through, but we did it!! She was a total rockstar and her, Mom, and Dad left with smiles on their faces!
Trimming down an hour and a half long appointment to 2 minutes feels impossible sometimes. But here are some of the highlights!

One thing I notice from parents who have also been traumatized by bad haircut experiences is they show up overly apologetic and anxious.
My studio is a safe space for clients AND parents. You can take a deep breath and understand we’re in this together 💖
TLDR; the uncomfortable truth is that one main common practice within the hair industry when dealing with neurodivergent children who struggle to get a haircut is physical restraint. That can look like:
- 1 or more adults holding down a child
- strapping a child into a chair
- using a headlock
I’ve worked with so many families who have stories like this. I’m here to tell them it doesn’t have to be that way anymore! I offer an approach that is lead by compassion, patience and understanding.
My goal is to help make kind and humane practices the industry standard 💕
