Congratulations to our newest student and the FIRST recipient of our scholarship from Empowerment Opportunity Center & Lincoln Land Credit Union, Jaylen O’Neal! This scholarship has enabled Jaylen to pursue his dream of becoming a licensed barber!

These scholarships are open to any resident of Macon County and we are thrilled with the new opportunities this has created for aspiring barbers to achieve their dreams.

Congratulations to Chance Coy on his graduation from barber college! Having a guy like Chance graduate is always bittersweet because he is so reliable and consistent in helping a shop run smoothly. He built a big following here not only because of his talent behind the chair, but he just has a personality that people gravitate to and he’s NEVER without something to say 🤣! I throughly enjoyed having him here—he’s the kind of barber that shop owners dream of hiring—he always shows up, is always consistent and brings great energy to those around him. His sports takes on the other hand…let’s just say it contributes to the lively banter that makes a barbershop what it is 😁. I’ll sure miss being around him everyday but I have no doubt he will have an amazing career. Congrats, Chance! 💈📚

Congratulations to Mary Madson on her graduation from barber college! She now adds her name to the growing list of LBC alum that are dual licensed cosmetologists & barbers!

Mary is already the owner of The Den Hair Emporium in downtown Champaign with an awesome crew of barbers and cosmetologists. In the short time that Mary was with us, she made quite the impression and built an impressive following. She is the consummate professional behind the chair. She has such a great personality that people gravitate towards and ALWAYS gives her very best to her clients. It is not hard to see why she has already had such a successful career and now that she is soon to be dual licensed, the sky is truly the limit for her and her business. She will be very missed around here but she has an amazing future and career ahead of her and it is well earned. Congrats, Mary! 💈📚

Thank you to all of the parents, families and kids that came out for our annual week of free back to school haircuts for K-8 students! We had another huge turnout this year and it was awesome to see lots of happy kids and parents!

Today marks the start of our annual week of free back to school haircuts for Kindergarten-8th grade students! We are excited to continue our long standing partnership with the Painters & Glaziers Union and want to extend a special thank you to Bill Francisco for his help in coordinating this event!

We know firsthand the difference a haircut can make in a child’s self confidence and we hope this small gesture of goodwill can help these kids start their school year off right and alleviate some of the financial burden for their families. Thank you all for your support throughout the years! 💈📚

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting some junior high and high school aged kids who wanted to inquire more about a career in the trades, the business of barbering and what owning a business is really like. They were also able to talk to a couple of current students and ask them about their background and experiences in the program. It was a great experience all around! 💈📚
