Everyone notices the red.
What they don’t see is everything it takes to keep it looking that way.

Red is one of those colors that can completely transform the way you feel about your hair—but it comes with a conversation I believe should happen before the color ever touches your hair.

How often do you wash it?
How much heat do you use?
What are you using at home?
And most importantly: are you comfortable with the maintenance?

Because when a client tells me she wants red, I’m not only thinking about how beautiful that color will look when she leaves my chair.

I’m thinking about week three. Week six. And everything that happens in between.

The washes. The heat. The products. Real life.

That doesn’t make red difficult.

It means the color has to fit the person wearing it—and the maintenance has to be part of the plan from the beginning.

After years of working with color, one thing I’ve learned is that a beautiful result isn’t only about what happens in my chair.

It’s also about what happens after you leave it.

So yes, choose the red. ❤️

Some women can change their hair color and still feel completely like themselves.

And then there are women who look in the mirror and know immediately when the reflection looking back at them doesn’t feel like who they are.

Not because their hair defines them, but because it can be one more way of expressing who they are.

Marlene has always been that woman.

When she was blonde, it had to be platinum. When she wore her hair dark, it had to be blue-black. There has never been a “just a little” with her—and yes, she has kept me on my toes with every new idea. 😂

So this red could never be just red.

We built it over time—adjusting the tone, watching how her hair responded, respecting what it could handle, and getting closer to the version that felt most like her.

If this red had a name, it would have to represent both: Marlene, the woman, and Renaissance by Marlah, the brand she built. Somewhere along the way, this color became part of both.

To me, that is custom color: not copying an inspiration photo, but paying attention to the woman sitting in front of me.

Maybe you found my page because of my blondes.

And maybe, somewhere along the way, you thought:

“I love her work… but I don’t want to be blonde.”

I understand why.

Because blonding is one of my specialties—and I’m proud of that. Over the years, I’ve invested in education, advanced techniques, courses, and countless hours behind the chair continuing to refine my craft.

Naturally, I’ve shown you a lot of that work.

But maybe I haven’t shown you enough of everything else.

My work with color has never ended at blonde.

Some women want more light.

Some want their depth back.

Some want a rich, dimensional brunette.

Some want warmth, contrast, intensity—or a color they’ve never been brave enough to try before.

And some sit in my chair without knowing exactly what to call what they want.

They just know:

“I want to look in the mirror and feel like me.”

That’s where my work begins.

Because my goal has never been to make every woman who sits in my chair look the same.

It’s to listen.
To understand her hair.
To understand what she wants.
And to use everything I’ve learned throughout the years to create something that feels right for her.

So yes—

blonde is one of my specialties.
